Saalax Posted May 7, 2018 By one of the local businessman. Isku wax uu qabso is the way forward. In neighbouring mamuul goboleed of Puntland they built reservoirs all over Bari and Nugaal to fight water shortage. It is good to see reer Bohol are following the same strategy to prepare for future droughts.
Saalax Posted May 7, 2018 In order to fight droughts in the future, more reservoirs should be built in Somalia to stop the water going to waste also planting a lot of trees everywhere.

Sometimes you have to take action in life to change your situation.

I believe this can be easily accomplished if the millions collected by every tribe and Jifo—from their hard earned Qaraan contributions— are directed and targeted at this objective, instead of wasting money on building so-called “schools” in every tuulo in Somalia for kids that have been impoverished and displaced by constant droughts in the first place. Maybe prioritize the Investment of these the monies into small dams/reservoirs and help protect the livestock which are the sustenance and daily livelihood earner of most Somalis. Only then will they overcome poverty and maybe even build their own schools and clinics.
maakhiri1 Posted May 9, 2018 yes agree, the most important is cultural change and learning new skills. The nomadic way of life is not sustainable anymore, These people must abondan their way of life and move into farming and or fishing. ASIANS survived tha way for thousands of years! For Reer Miyi moving to Magaalada where they can get access to schools/healthcare is taboo, waa caydhoow. This must be changed. More being at mercy rich fat arabs who can stop importing their lifestock as they wish or at the mercy of rain.

Duufaan Posted May 9, 2018 After securing water resources, first, they have to live collectively as the Turks and Asian nomads did centuries ago and create jobs for everybody. With fewer moving the land also will recover.
Holac Posted May 9, 2018 Best project ever. Well done to the NGOs who made the effort to do the obvious.
