Somali 'Naanaysyo'

My recent trip back home encountered some interesting 'nanaaysyo'.

 

'Argagax' - No idea what he did

 

'Is fasax' - He was away from his post for 2 days whilst working for the police. When asked 'oo yaa ku fasaxay?' his answer was 'dee anaa is fasaxay' hence the name.

 

'Gaadhi jiid' was another one I heard.

The funniest time is when he called our home and my "sujui" friend answered the phone:

 

Kulalihi: Helloow yaa hadlaaya

Sujui Friend: Aniga waaye

Kulalihi: Waa Kulalihiyee, waayo?

Sujui Friend: Maxaa ila leedahay?

Kulalihi: Waryaa cayaarta dhaaf, Abti Kulalihi waaye!!!this time is really upset

Sujui Friend: as loud as she could, war waxaad ila leedahay malehee, get the off the phone...

 

To this day, I still say "Kulalihi waaye", everytime I call their house...looooool
