Watch the above videos and share your thoughts ladies. As for the brothers they can also share I guess who they find attractive? would they find a girl with kinky hair attractive? and lately are there anymore sisters who actually go natural? I hardly doubt almost any wedding you attend every girl has a long soft hair lol....

share your two cents smile.gif

Everytime I go to the hair dresser she tells me not to relax my hair as its bad for the hair blah blah but the woman then tells me she relaxes her own hair every 6 weeks!

Straightened hair is easier to manage, for me that's the bottom line and really it has little to do with wanting to be white or anything else.

You know what, my cousins and sister have hindi hair. So I think this "trying to look white" argument doesn't always hold true for Somalis. For some jilaac hair is just natural hair.

^true some somalis have soft hair, bt we are talking about hte majority n how nowadays you wont find anyone with kinky hair, or if you do they are rare.

Chubacka true relaxers do make hair more managaeable I agree with you. But, I don't believe they are good for the hair on the long run. Like theres health aspect to it so your hair dresser has a point. It doesnt matter whether she does it or not, she is advising you that it isnt good lol...adults r always like that, do what I say not what I do icon_razz.gif

Abyan true but nowadays good hair is straight long shiny hair..anything kinky is a bad hair. And, everyone seems to believe that...

One of the reasons I am glad to be a Soomaali.

Waxaan camal Soomaalida badanaa kama walwalaan.

I was reading a month or so ago an interview done on Chris Rock. He was promoting his new movie, Good Hair. He mentioned the fact that how outrageous amount some African Americans spend on their hair and yet at the best of times when one's partner wants to touch in intimacy and in passion, they can't. The 'fake' hair cannot be touched, even if one's partner wants in midst of passion.

^^ very expensive waaye getting hair done or buying new hair and style every 6 weeks, i have some colleagues, non somali, they spend around £110 everytime they go to hair dressers.

:D @ MMA. I guess it's understandable if you think how much the spend on it.

AA, i know its not good for the hair but I would have to have the patience of a saint to stay natural either that or I would chop it all off. But good on you if you have naturally curly hair and you don't treat it.

btw I spent half the show confused as this is what I understood to be a perm!

^^^I happen to agree. It looks great if you keep it short like her and don't brush it. Otherwise you would cry like a baby if they are like that and you have to maintain them!

I've never seen a Somali girl with nabby hair. Most of us some confusing mix of Afro meets India that grows out like a tree like an Afro, but then grows as long as an indian. I mean seriously :D

Haye Aaliya, adigu you have nice long hindi hair ee maxaad ugu diganeysa us qarafadog chicks icon_razz.gif

I haven’t watched these yet but I like to think healthy hair is natural hair, however if your hair is really unmanageable then who are we to judge? The majority of Somali women I have seen do have soft hair, they might have frizzy or very curly hair but kinky hair doesn’t seem to be common.

I have never permed my hair & the idea of perming hair with chemicals every few weeks sounds very unhealthy. I have sometimes coloured to be adventurous though.
