Tallaabo Posted April 3, 2018 His criticism is very much needed but I don't support his stand on the Somalia-Somaliland talks. Those talks are useless.
Tallaabo Posted April 3, 2018 Somaliland should conduct a thorough census and give a proportionate number of parliament seats to each region based on the exact population. That way every Somalilander will be equally represented.

Sandulle has valid point, one can achieve far more through diplomacy and talks.

We should either have fair representation for all or there should be no democracy at all.
Suldaanka Posted April 3, 2018 In Australia, the MPs are allocated based on Registered voters per electorate. There are around 16m registered voters and 150 seats, which gives around 100k voters per MP. Somaliland can establish something along these lines, which gives priority to the registered voters rather than population head count. Hence, in Somalilland there are 850k registered voters and 82 seats. This gives us a ratio of around 10k per MP.

Power distribution based on the registered votes only will ensure the spread of the democratic system to all the regions of the country.
Holac Posted April 4, 2018 Suldaanka, that would also disadvantage the smaller communities, would it not? There has to be a hybrid system for true democratic representation.
