On behalf of its founder, it is a great pleasure and honor to announce the opening of the first American University (Eelo American University) in Borama, Awdal on December 15, 2007 with pre-Undergraduate preparatory program, followed by first year of Undergraduate program. Eelo American University is founded by Eelo Foundation USA, on the principle that there are fundamental and lasting benefits that result from higher education, scientific and technical research, application of research results and community participation. Eelo American University will contribute to the historical and cultural vocation of ALL communities it is serving.

 

 

 

Eelo American University is designed to be the first “Environmentally Green” University, original in its organizational, physical and educational approach. Eelo American University will train graduates with high academic and experiential qualifications, to pursue knowledge and to expand cultural wealth. Graduates will be cognizant of social obligation, the need for human solidarity and tolerance.

 

 

 

Eelo American University will contribute to ALL regional communities’ education, cultural and economic objectives while improving opportunities for international community to contribute to development and to securing peace and stability and therefore to reducing poverty in the region. At maturity, it will implement research programs in major areas of national and international interest.

 

 

 

Eelo American University will prepare students at the bachelor's and master's degree levels. Each graduate with a master’s degree will be academically qualified to enter a doctor of philosophy, or equivalent program, in an accredited University of the international community. It will be registered in the United States of America and will therefore be modeled in its administrative, pedagogical and academic organization, on the Land Grant University System of the United States of America.

 

 

 

English will be the language of instruction. However, special attention will be given to teaching a culturally supportive curriculum. Participation of women as students and/or as members of the faculties in the University will be emphasized. It will support and maintain fundamental rights to free speech and provide an environment in which students and faculty can achieve the highest level of intellectual integrity.

 

 

 

Eelo American University will initially conduct certificate, diploma and three years degree programs at bachelor level in the following areas of teaching - Computer Sciences, Engineering, Basic Sciences, Management Sciences, Veterinary and Allied Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Law and Human Rights and Continuous and Adult Education. It will bring scholars all over the world to conduct their research at different centers – Peace and Conflict Center, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB Center, Environment and Natural Resources Center, and Culture and Heritage Center.

 

 

The minimum admissions requirements for applicants to First Year Bachelor Degree are: – High/Secondary School Certificate or equivalent. Applicants from overseas must send official documents of their high/secondary education indicating subjects taken and grades obtained. Notarized English translations are necessary if the documents are not in English. Photocopies are not accepted. Applicants whose native language is not English must take the following English Proficiency Tests: Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.) with minimum required T.O.E.F.L. score of 550. All Students are required to take Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with reasonable score.

 

 

Eelo American University will get ALL it’s funding from different sources such as, student tuition fees and donations from the US Government, US Private Companies, US Non-Profit Organizations, and the US People. Student tuition fees are 150 USD per semester. We will periodically publish at the University’s Website “Yearly Financial Statement” of the University to show our donors how the funds were spent. Transparency and accountability are the corner stone of this institution.

Thats good news, but when will they think about jobs for all those graduates? How many youngsters with high school and unicversity degrees are walking around? Its not only education people unemployment will destroy the little knowledge thats built up and those youngsters might end up in marfashes. How many graduates with university degrees from india, pakistan and malaysia are unemployed? and what do those guys usually do instead of working in Somalia way soo tahriibaan. So Jobs is whats needed.
