Yeah I never understood why beautiful girls are attracted to hideous looking creatures. Maybe opposites do attract sometimes.

Well than Seattle it is I suppose. I don't think you'll be disappointed in your quest when you'll meet one of its residents HornAfrique. Just joking. :D At the other hand, maybe I'm not....

Now you are being insulting. London is a blinging city. And Seattle seems a gorgeously grey city as well. There's no need to get huffy just because Vancouver or Toronto or any other silly Canadian City fails to ring my bell.

As if!

though I hate to admitt, Seatle is beautifull! I've been there this summer, and it was my first time, breathtaking

Now dont get the facts confused: the city itself, gorgeous!

The small shettle-looking houses, not so exotic.

The people( i mean the maryooley) Hell NO!!!!

Seriously wasup with them? you might think dat beautiful weather would encourage them to do something more than flock arround the most qaxooti looking maqaayad  i have ever seen, but nooo. enough said, i've broken my fasting over them people again, darn it

It's a gray, cloudy, and rainy for the most of the year! For how long? here is the surprise: nine frikking months! It gets F for commuting. It has only one main highway (I-5). Hwy I-90 is not much of a help. Granted there are corrolory bypasses but that's it! They are batch fixes to I-5.

The upside: plenty of seafood and coffee smile.gif The city is surrounded by forrest and mountains - a breath taking few but in order to enjoy it ya gotta go out say about 40 miles to the east on I-90. Of course Mount Rainer is the highlight.

Somali community live all over and apart each other. They have not so fancy biz going in the getto area of Tukwilla. Roads are terrible there even though they finnaly fixed the International blvd. Somali Restuarents are terrible as well.

Majority of the Somalis are blue color workers with menial jobs. Surprisingly enough, many of them work in the Seatac airoport! The good thing is almost all of them do work though. A lotta cabbies too. The community is not organized and the talented Somalis are very few and they are detached from the community. There is high tech industry in the city but unfortunately there are only handful (several) who are employed by these high tech. If you are the hip kinda fella too bad...u better mix with non-Somalis for an entertainment cuz Somalis seem to be qaad-jewing group and cheap hard-liqour drinking who go to cheap nite clubs.

On the bright side there are a lot of students, sports (soccer mainly), handful of college going nomads. Religiouly inclined Somalis are very organized and have their leader Sh. Ibrahim. They have raised about over a million dollars for a new Masjid that will be constructed in the Tukwilla area. They have bought the land and will start another fundraising events soon.

Seattle is the only city in the states and I have been in several cities, that I have seen Somali prostitutes. To be exact I have seen a young thug wannabee 18 yr old prostitute on Inetrnational Blvd!!!! Moreover at one time I was helping a guy who got ripped off by US Bank well not really but kinda and there was a young lady propbably drunk asking a quarter...gotta go my man Horn Afrique I'm terribly sorru but under skycrapers their is a dark world out there.

Average annual rainfall is 36". Compare it to 15" in LA, 34.5" in Chicago, 39" in Washington DC, and 40" in New York

Lol@Horn. Them figures are deceptive. 36/12=3" monlthy rainfall(Maybe except for July & August), so adjust it to 10months of 36" ,that’s almost 4" per month. Awefully high ammounts of rainfall for one city. Whereas chicago may have only 4months of heavy rainfall. Talk of defensive comparison by the seatle Board of tourism;(HornAfri?).

Anyway, the city is disgustingly & amazingly beautiful. Between the musuem of flight and the space needle, I had no time to chill around Tukwilia & Kent . Besides the commute from Leafy Bellevue to ghetto Tukwilia is just horrible :D

But,seriously whats with the Ad?, You are not running for a King County post are you? ;)

But i have to say, i loved the city of Portland,Oregon, better. Thats another story for another day icon_razz.gif

Brown, I see you highlighted Bellevue but I gotta give to u...Bellevue is a one helluva town. But c'mon how many times can u go to Space needle...everyday yeah right.

On a serious note, Portland, Oregan is "the" city in my book. I gave it this high mark on the liveable status ground. Less hassle and less gangs in the cheap and avordable areas of the city.

Bellevue is an amazing town.

The place is just fantastically fun. Everyone is elegant. Everything smells of money. You can literally feel the richness around you.

My friend, Portland is just beautiful, its seatle with less hustle & more rosier, hence the title 'City of Roses'. It is the cleanest city in america. High taxes & poor job markets are amongst the negatives.

If you wanna raise kids, that’s the place man. Although it has been noted that it has the highest number of porn video stores in America[Don’t ask me how I know these lil' and useless stats]. :D

Lol@Word. Hate my friend is a strong word. Stronger than seatle's double expresso. smile.gif

Baashi, reading your post, I would never want to live there sxb! But seeing as though I have been living for close to fifteen years, I can say you were overly critical of the Somali population sxb. I started this topic about the city of Seattle itself, but since you analyzed the Somali community let's go there.

It's a gray, cloudy, and rainy for the most of the year! For how long? here is the surprise: nine frikking months!

What a big misconception. Seattle is not Florida, but it's hardly gray and cloudy even half the time my man. As for rain? That is the biggest stereotype people hold against Seattle and its not a very accurate one sxb. 75% of the time the city is dry, but when it rains, it pours! That being the reason people make the mistake of thinking it rains all the time. Chicago gets about or at times more rain then we do and no one cites them! Because their rain is infrequent as opposed to ours. Besides I love the rain.

It gets F for commuting. It has only one main highway (I-5). Hwy I-90 is not much of a help. Granted there are corrolory bypasses but that's it! They are batch fixes to I-5.

What you forgot to mention is that Seattle is the most narrowest major American city right between Lake Washington and Pugest Sound. Our freeway is perfectly designed on the north/south scale and has the distinction of running right through the city. Hop on the I-5 (not on rush hour) and you are five minutes everywhere the U-District to Sea-Tac Airport.

Somali community live all over and apart each other. They have not so fancy biz going in the getto area of Tukwilla. Roads are terrible there even though they finnaly fixed the International blvd. Somali Restuarents are terrible as well.

As you said Somalis live all over the place. There are a couple of areas where we are very visible, but majority of the time we are assimilated into our neighborhoods. From Shoreline north of Seattle, Edmonds, to Seattle itself, Bellevue, Sea-Tac, Tukwila (you said a ghetto? sorry buddy Seattle has the distinction of being one of few major cities without ghettos), Auburn, Renton, etc. So we are divided, but when there is a call in the community, we all come to the rescue sxb.

Majority of the Somalis are blue colour workers with manial jobs. Surprisingly enough, many of them work in the Seatac airoport! The good thing is almost all of them do work though. A lotta cabies too.

Blue collar jobs are a Somali-wide occupation my man, irrespective of city. More and more younger Somalis, in Seattle atleast, are successful professions. My acquaintances include two accountants, a chain-store manager, and couple, yes couple, of med students close to graduation. That's just my acquantances. What about their acquantances and so on? We're gettin there sxb.

If you are the hip kinda fella too bad...u better mix with non-Somalis for an entertainment cuz Somalis seem to be qaad-jewing group and cheap hard-liqour drinking who go to cheap nite clubs.

That is a big problem, but I suppose it is not exclusice to Somalis in Seattle.

One of our high points is the respect our religious authorities hold. Despite what Somalis do in the dark here, when a religious call is sent, they hike thier pants up and respond favorable. As for the Masjid, I can not wait till it is built.

Seattle is the only city in the states and I have been in several cities that I have seen Somali prostitutes. To be exact I have seen a young thug wannabee 18 yr old prostitute on Inetrnational Blvd!!!!

Waat..! Maxaa tidhi? Sxb like I have said, I have lived in this city for over 15 yrs and I have never seen such thing. For sure there Somalis that hold their morales loosely , be they men or woman, but I have never seen a Somali prostitue nor heard of it. Knowing Somalis, if such thing existed I would probably have heard of somewhere.

BTW Tukwilaa ku dhex laaban jirtay miyaa? I am hardly at Tukwila.

I'd say Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia Newfoundland and Labrador are the best places on earth. Nova Scotia has one of the best bike touring and coastal paddling spots in the world. And if you are a seafood lover, well then you are in heaven.
