HARGEISA– SL’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire address on Sunday the house of assembly on the agreement with DPW.

While delivering his speech at the house, Opposition lawmaker Hon. Hamud started heckling and boos against the FM address. According to reports say that some lawmakers have walked out of the session in protests against the illegitimate pact with DPW which was not tabled in front of the parliament.

The FM said that Somaliland is not governed by laws made in Somalia as Somalilanders have not chosen President Farmajo. The FM went on to say that SL citizens have not elected the Somali lawmakers stationed in Mogadishu, the war torn capital of Somalia.

He added that the Somali MP do not decide the interest of Somaliland and further stated that SL citizens have voted for its lawmakers based in Hargeisa and the president and his deputy who have the overall power to decide on the interest of the nation.

A lawmaker who grilled the FM questioned the flip flops in regard to the tripartite agreement signed among DPW, Somaliland and Ethiopia. In the previous agreement, it was stated that DPW acquired 65 % while Somaliland retained the 35 percent. It has been recently modified as Somaliland takes 31 percent while Ethiopia got 19 % and DPW received 61 percent. The lawmaker asked the FM who gave the authority to change the pact terms.
