Oromia—Ethiopian army killed a dozen of civilians in the Oromia town of Moyale, near the border of Kenya on Saturday, Oromo activists say.
“At least 13 civilians have been killed around the Kenya-Ethiopia border in Moyale-Borona area, and scores of others wounded by the Agazi forces,” said Jawar Mohammed, referring TPLF forces mostly of Tigre origin.
He said the wounded civilians were transferred to the neighboring regional state of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region.
The Online activist accused the government of planning to execute more other people after the people of the area experienced a night power cut.
“After massacring over 13 people, the regime has cut off electricity to Moyale town. They might be planning further atrocity, said Mr. Mohammed.
Ethiopian and Oromo Officials in Finfinee (Addis Ababa) were unavailable for comment.
Oromia is one of two regional states the regime imposed a state of emergency (SOE) and the Ethiopian authorities ordered late last month the country’s security forces to “take all the necessary measures” to deal with anti-government agents in the restive Oromia region.
UN says the peoples in Oromia, Ogaden and Afar-land are “facing a complex humanitarian crisis” due to recurrent droughts and ethnic violence.
