Somaliland Launches National Mass measles vaccination campaign

The President of the republic HE Musa Bihi Abdi on Saturday launched nationwide measles vaccination campaign in Hargeisa, as part of efforts to eradicate the disease from Somaliland.

The nationwide exercise, which is scheduled for March 10th is aimed at reaching all children across Somaliland.

In a speech the president made during the function held at the presidential palace appealed to parents to send their children for vaccination. The President has urged rural community particularly those living in remote areas to send their kids to have the inoculations. Mr. Musa Bihi has praised the health ministry and other agencies which are collaborating to make the project successful.

In a well organized ceremony held the presidency saw the attendance of the president, health ministry officials led by the minister of health and health supporting agencies locally and internationally.
