DP world was a deal between GHelle, Boreh and Dubai.

Both Djibouti and Ethiopia were the beneficiaries of 911.

As the Sheikh said the war between Somalis including Djibouti and the gulf has just started.

Just like British empire of the nineteenth century the UAE want to be a sea power . THey are serving foreign powers to dominate the comercial lanes of the gulf. I heard long ago that the great powers of the world have given them the go ahead to control the entrance to Babel Mandab, the Red SEa and the Gulf of Aden.

When the British left Hong Kong in 1997, many of the commercial banks , money laundering businesses and save haven accounts had moved to Dubai. THe Russian oligarchs who can not access western and American banks due to the sanctions have settled Dubai. It is ten times the new Hong Kong with billions of cash flow from the oil.

Gulf Sheikhs might like fancy airplanes or banks and malls, but port management and dirty metal scraping is not their thing.  Others are running and managing while it is giving them to the power to control sea lanes.

Now, we Somalis and Djiboutians can not fight these rich boys in terms of money and diplomatic power.  Arab league is no more, what is left is Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Al least we should concentrate what we can contrll.

1-Never allow any business entity that is connected to UAE to make deals in Somalia.

2- The Hawala business and others should leave these Dubai banks and relocate their businesses to other countries including Turkey.

3- The deal between Dubai Port and Bosaaso must be scrapped, and Kismaayo should be out of the question.

4- The Berbera deal should be fought and litigated through the United Nations, the international court and other international forums.

4-Somalia should threaten to leave the Arab league totally if they do not stop modeling.

5- All diplomatic relations must be severed with UAE. THEir Ambassador must be kicked out until they change their behaviour. If FArmaajo keeps the UAE in the country, the he must be part of the problem. HE should know that people can not be fooled by mere pronouncements, actions are needed.

6- Ethiopia military must leave Somali within 90 days and the parliament must lead that effort. We knew the Ethiopian games all along , but thanks to Dubai they have shown their contempt for Farmaajo  and country.

DP World's main part is a british company UAE bought few years ago for 7 billion. That out of the blue propelled them to no.4 in the world.

Your suggestion is contradicory:

One the one hand you realize that Dubai is the new London on the other hand you expect Farmaajo to openly fight this with bare hands. I don't think is a good idea. Gheulleh is exponentialy stronger than Farmaajo, and Gheulleh avoids being seen as fighting UAE or America.

Gheulleh has actually invited some senators to visit Djibouti soon, just to muddy the waters.

OO,  Ghelle can guarantee the Americans to keep their base and stay Djibouti. OUr main weapon is to keep our ports away from Dubai. If we keep them out , they can not  do much.

That is not enough for the Americans. They want China rolled back so many steps.

Through some European governments and companies, they are pressuring Ethiopia and Djibouti to contract the running and management of the railroad. Privatise it is the cover story.

Allowing them to stay for century is not enough for America in Djibouti. They want evrything of Chinese dismantled piece by piece or fast by regime change.

For Somalia the best option is not to do anything threatening to anyone. The ports can be given to Turkey even on fake agreements that would not be implemented, that will accomplish what you are suggesting.

Somali parliament on Monday banned the DP World from Somalia barely two weeks after Emirati ports operator unveiled its agreement with Ethiopia and Somaliland.
In a hotly debated session, Somali lawmakers jointly declared the company a threat to the country’s sovereignty, independence and unity.

“DP World had deliberately infringed on the country’s sovereignty there for it has been banned from operating in the country,” reads resolution issued after the session.
The resolution said the agreement between Ethiopia, Somaliland and DP World was against the country’s Provisional Constitution .
“Any agreement engaged in a country or organization which is not based on the provisional constitution of Somalia is null and void, therefore all the deals signed with Dubai Port World are invalid as they are against the country’s constitution, foreign investment regulations and other regulations of the country,” the resolution ruled.
The move comes barely a day after Somali president warned the foreign countries and companies against breaching the country’s sovereignty. "Whoever wishes to engage investment in Somalia should seek the permission from the legal institutions of the government. Somalia's foreign policy is based on neutralism and mutual respect," he told the opening session of parliament.
The ban will also affect the agreement between Puntland state and DP World's P&O ports which was granting the company to manage the port for 30 years.
"I am warning companies and countries not to cross the line and put to question the sovereignty of Somalia".
Early this month, Dubai announced a tripartite agreement dividing the Berbera port between DP World (51%), the Ethiopian government (19%), and Somaliland (30%).
The Somali government‘s ministry ports had previous termed the deal as null and void.
