Basbaas, a Somali legendary, comedian and actor, dies in Somaliland

HARGEISA–One of the best and leading Somali comedian of all times, Ismail Abdi Ibrahim, and one of the most renowned comedians and actors of Somali theatre, famously known as “Basbaas”died today in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The late Basbaas rose to fame as well respected and prominent actor during the heydays of Somali music in 1950’s when he joined the music. He was a member of the Somali legendary band, Waaberi, whom their music and drama still remain leading even though the band demised after the collapse of the central government of Somalia in 1991.
