Federal Government has declared that the Berbera Port deal inked between Somaliland and Dubai Ports World of the UAE is null and void and undermines the integrity of the sovereignty of Somalia.

This was disclosed in a statement from the Ministry of Ports & Maritime Transport which said that the agreement which stipulates that DPW acquires 51%, Somaliland is to take 31% while Ethiopia acquires 19% is not binding.

The Somali Govt was not part of the agreement and has not authorized any one to sign on its behalf the deal with the DPW. Not only the Mogadishu installed govt nullified the deal but also said that it was unconstitutional and posed a serious threat to the unity and the integrity of Somalia.

The Govt calls on that all agreements must adhere to the rule of law and set by the government of Somalia and in conformity with the approval of the parliament said the ministry in its statement.
