Somaliland: Justice ministry receives computers from UNODC

HARGEISA– The Justice minister, Hon. Abdikani Mohamud Ateye received a donation from The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at his office today. The ministry has recently put in place a data base which will be used to monitor every inmate in prisons all across the country.

The first pilot project will be applied to Hargeisa main prison and this will be a major step taken in the right direction. The new justice minister has promised to establish a system that will create a network to all justice and judiciary during a brief to Somaliland house of elders. UNODC assists the ministry of justice in projects related to prisoners arrested on crimes such piracy and terrorism in Somaliland.
