Health Ministry confirms the outbreak of measles in Somaliland

Health ministry said yesterday the outbreak of measles in some parts of Somaliland. This was disclosed by Director General of health ministry, Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hiryege. The DG has informed the populace to remain vigilant as he announced that it is not widespread. Dr. Hergeye has not ruled out the spread of measles and declared that the ministry has done its best to contain and bring the disease under control.The director general has sent stern warning to the public to take inoculations as the only preventable measure. Dr. Hergeye is in Kenya attending gathering and made the remarks with telephone interview with local newspaper. Finally, as the DG has said that keeping hygiene is the only way to prevent the disease to spread. A number of cases have been confirmed in Somaliland as far as measles eruption is concerned.
