Somaliland’s new cabinet takes oath of office before the President

HARGEISA— Somaliland’s new Cabinet members took the oath of office before the chairman of the supreme court on Thursday. The Head of State, His Excellency Musa Bihi Abdi flanked by the Vice President Hon. Abdirahman Sayli’i attended the occasion when the new cabinet took the oath of office. The incumbent president, Hon. Musa Bihi Abdi appointed a lean cabinet mostly homegrown individuals in his council of ministers in a bid to ensure all promises made during the presidential campaign and in line with the ruling party’s national plan will be carried out. Somaliland’s Supreme Court Chairman, Hon. Adam Haji AliAhmed, presided over the oath taking by the new ministers and the event took place the presidential palace. The country’s constitution article 129 stipulates that the 32 ministers must take the oath of office. They swore in Allah that they will show a high sense of loyalty to the Islamic faith and the republic of Somaliland during their tenure. The President made the nomination of cabinet most of them are said to be junior in running the public affairs. The Head of State left all big names in the previous administration led by his predecessor, Silanyo who were blamed for the rampant corruption in the country. The President along with his cabinet is determine to pursue government policies, and have already  outlined their priorities. The cabinet members have taken the oath of office by putting their hands on the Koran which was presided over by the chairman of the constitutional court.
