Somaliland Parliament to approve newly appointed ministers

the House will first converge on upcoming Saturday for a special session to vet the newly appointed ministers.

Hon. Musa Bihi appointed the council of ministers a couple of weeks ago.

 

HARGEISA–The Lower House of Somaliland parliament ( The House of Representative) started vetting process the newly appointed ministers. According to House secretary, Hon. Abdirisak Said Ayanle has said that the parliamentary commission tasked the vetting of ministers have submitted the reports to the house speaker. The parliament will on 13th Jan. 2018 commence a convention at its premises opposite to the presidential palace where the new council of ministers will be approved. There are 23 ministers and 10 assistant ministers who have been submitted to the parliament for approval according to the secretary. The parliament commission have met with ministers for vetting their qualifications for the portfolios appointed and handed over the final reports to the speaker ship. The parliament set a timetable for the approval of ministers which will kick off on the upcoming Saturday and will wrap up on Monday. It is for parliament members prerogative right to pass or reject appointed ministers. Three ministers have failed to qualify for the posts appointed by the president. The ministers of labor and the minister for agriculture have not had educational background. The minster for transport has been sentenced to three years of jail term barring him to hold public office. The defense minister does not believe the secession of Somaliland and was against its aspirations.
