Old_Observer Posted January 6, 2018 This is very dangerous development. The Egyptians have decided to tackle Sudan before Ethiopia. Eritrea will never allow Egypt to do anything against Ethiopia from its territory, but will allow Egypt against Sudan. What Eritrea will be blind sided is that Ethiopia for sure will attack Eritrea, for any move on Sudan. Sudan for Ethiopia is more important than any other country. Saudi and UAE money is making Egyptians do things detrimental to their interest. Sudan is also the Brotherhood and that will not bod well for Sissi. He might become Gaddafi. Old_Observer Posted January 6, 2018 Sudan shut down border with Eritrea January 6, 2018 (KHARTOUM) - The Sudanese government on Saturday has closed its borders with Eritrea amid heightened security. On Thursday, Sudan deployed thousands of government militia Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters to the eastern state of Kassala on the border with Eritrea. In statements to the official news agency SUNA on Friday, Kassala State governor Adam Jama’a denied that Sudan has decided to close the border crossings with Eritrea. However, hours after his statements, Jama’a issued a decision to shut down the border crossings with the eastern neighbour, saying the move was based on the presidential emergency order. The decision provides for “the closure of all border crossings with the State of Eritrea as of the evening of 5 January 2018 and until further directives were issued”. Sudan Tribune has learnt on Saturday that a high-level security meeting was held in Kassala amidst heightened security. According to reliable sources, the Sudanese government has assembled a significant number of troops and SRF elements from the various units across the country and dispatched them to the eastern border. It is noteworthy that the Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir last week issued a decree imposing a six-month state of emergency in North Kordofan and Kassala states. The government said the decision was prompted by security reasons pertaining to the collection of illicit arms as well as combating illegal drugs and human trafficking. Sudan’s First Vice-President Bakri Hassan Salih last month paid a two-day visit to Asmara in which he discussed bilateral relations and issues of common concern. (ST) __________________________________________ What ever economy Eritrea had is now finished, no need for Sudan to fire a single bullet. Half the Eritrean army will be in Sudan or Ethiopia at first sign of trouble.
Holac Posted January 6, 2018 It is true the Muslim Brotherhood is big in Sudan. But I think Galbeedi's assertion that Egypt is interested in blowing up the dam in Ethiopia is not the most likely intention of the UAE-funded troops being deployed in Eritrea. The UAE has no desire to support an international incident that can turn the African Union against the Gulf countries. Blowing up the dam is a huge deal, and will only lead to a regional war and EU sanctions against Egypt. The UAE is most likely interested in bullying Sudan for supporting the Turkish initiative. In essence, the UAE is encouraging the overthrow of Bashir and the opposition in Sudan may try to take advantage of the UAE move.
maakhiri1 Posted January 6, 2018 Not sure why UAE is in for this, they rely Sudan for food. why disturb their food security? UAE wax lagama dheefe Islam loo soo direy buu noqdey. late Sheikh Sayid woukd never think of this, his sons like Saudi Prince are extremeky careless and dangerous. In essence, the UAE is already encouraging the overthrow of Bashir and the opposition in Sudan may try to take advantage of the UAE move. Holac, I agree. For Egypt to attempt attacking the dam is unthinkable and also most militry analysts reason is not possible. Ethiopia had ready preventions from beginning. The Egyptians also know a fact that is not repeated or shown in Media. If Egypt attacks Ethiopia the Nile will be diverted in the mountains. Then the Egyptians have to physically and fight their way to destroy the diversion. The target is Sudan. Sudan and Turkey is the trigger with these petro dollar drunk arabs and the dollar starved Egyptians. Me thinks Ethiopia will destroy the Egyptian force in Eritrea. 4000 Eritreans go to Ethiopia every month as per UN refugee agency and about 6000 Eritreans go to Sudan every month. Sudan and Ethiopia have evry information one can think off for free. Egyptians are blaming the Brotherhood for the news. They are saying fake news. Next news from Eritrea will be that Ethiopian army is in Sudan of which there is about 10,000 already in Darfur and Abiye. The Amhara diaspora had in their web sites last few weeks that Sudan Military was setting base and joint excercising in Ethiopia.
Old_Observer Posted January 6, 2018 How Arabs do forign policy and wars: November-2016 Saudi – Ethiopia Cooperation a Warning for Egypt? The enemy of my enemy is my friend. It seems the Saudi government tries to put pressure on Cairo by deepening its relation with Ethiopia.Amid Strained Relations with Egypt, Saudi Official Visited Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Al Ahram had a full campaign on this issue. Al-Khatib’s visit to Ethiopia is the second by Saudi officials within days, where Saudi Minister of Agriculture Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen al-Fadhli visited Ethiopia last week. BTW the Egyptians had a point here. Saudi Arabia is running out of water. There is a flauting idea that Saudi can pipe line water from Ethiopia, much cheaper than desalinating. But this was not the issue at this time. October 2016 Cairo is not following the weird twists of Saudi diplomacy in Libya as well. Since June 2016, Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, General, and now Marshal, Khalifa Haftar has ceased to please Riyadh while Cairo is actively using him to create a buffer zone between its border and members of the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other terrorist groups from all over the world who have occupied Western Libya (historical Tripolitania). __________________________ Egypt and Saudi Arabia here are only waterboys for Israel/US, France, UK and Italy some against and for Russia. Egypt being a neighbor acted against her own interest simply to be good with US. December 2017 The military presence in Eritrea may be a response to Sudan allowing Turkey to take over Suakin Island in Sudan temporarily last year, as part of a broader Turkish engagement policy in Africa. Suakin was once Sudan’s largest port and governed by the Ottoman Empire but has fallen into disuse since the creation of Port Sudan in the 20th century just 60 kilometers to the north.” January 2018 Eritrea giving unfettred complete control of its port, which is known the only purpose is to kill Yemeni people, for a few million dollars is something that indicative of how Arabs, of which Eritrea has become a client, is unconsionable. Material poverty will come to pass in Somalia or Ethiopia, but moral poverty of Eritrea will remain for long time to come.

Do you think the Oromo cry is more than for a goat? It is not hidden fact that Only the Oromo were and are allowed to do demonstrations in Cairo, which they did a few times already, but on the ground inside Ethiopia is a mixed bag for the Egyptians. Numbers do not mean much in life and death situations. Eritrea has twice the number of soldiers to that of Ethiopia (hard to believe, but when you see the conscription in Eritrea it makes sense). The Oromo also are most vulnerable having borders with every single region in Ethiopia except Tigray. Conflicts with just about every single of the regions that border them. As the saying goes "oh salt, better taste good for your own sake, otherwise you will be stone and thrown like stone/sand"
maakhiri1 Posted January 6, 2018 The biggest problem is African dictators don't get it untill it is too late, Ethiopia has a big weakness and its enemy will exploit, your Tigrey must reform Asap and bring everyone on board, or like Somalia you will disintegrate. Old_Observer Posted January 7, 2018 I think you are giving the Egyptians more weight than they deserve. The only place the Egyptians have been able to control is the Israeli open prison of Gaza, and that with their master Israel's non stop help. Egypt has moral depravity that has no bottom. Ethiopians may be poor in material wealth, but have better moral standing and that is tremendeous strength. Unless arabs pay for them, Egyptians have no money to bribe anyone. Ethiopians or Tigray as you call them and Sudan are worried for Egypt when it gets humiliated and Cairo collapses for Brotherhood to save it.
