The Visit of Somalia’s Minister for Planning to Somaliland is a violation of territorial integrity

HARGEISA– Somaliland’s Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation minister, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire has spoken of a trip embarked by Somalia’s planning & International Cooperation Minister, Mr. Jama Mohamed Hasan in Badhan, Sanaag. SL’s FM said that the visit is to worsen the already worsening cooperation between Somaliland and Somalia.

Dr. Sa’ad has expressed his disappointment with the minister’s move as he state clearly that the two nations share demarcated borders which date back to the colonial era. The FM has unequivocally said that this is a clear violation to Somaliland’s territorial integrity and further added that it may instigate unrest in a region which is plagued by hostilities. The minister further asserted that this may lead to warfare between the two authorities if Somalia does not refrain from sending its ministers to Somaliland territory.
