Somalia is continually plagued by numerous problems, despite growing support for its central government. Other pressing challenges include famine and disease.

After years of enduring a protracted civil war, Somalia continues to face a set of intractable challenges with security foremost among them.

In October, more than 500 people were killed in a double bombing attack in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

Others challenges include violence, famine and disease.
