EU Parliament Delegation visits Somaliland

HARGEISA— European Union parliament delegation led by Hon. James Carver arrives in Hargeisa today.

Somaliland government official and member of main opposition greeted the EU MP’s upon arrival at Egal airport Mr. James spearheads a campaign within the European Union to lobby for Somaliland’s statehood.

Ms. Fatumo Said, adviser to Wadani chairman has made welcoming remarks during the warm reception given to the EU parliament members who embarked on official working visit to Somaliland. She reiterated that government and opposition join hands when it comes to the quest of an international recognition. Ms. Fatumo unequivocally stated that Somaliland’s statehood is non negotiable and added that both the ruling and the opposition remain united as one in regard to recognition seeking efforts. Ms. Fatumo clearly affirmed that Somaliland will leave no stone unturned to get its deserved recognition from the world. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 but the world had not recognized it.
