Deeq A. Posted December 2, 2017 IMMIGRATION officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted a Somali who pretended to be a Swedish citizen when he tried to fly to United Kingdom, the Bureau of Immigration said on Friday. Abdinajah Mohamoud Aden, 23, was about to board a connecting flight to London when he was accosted by the bureau’s Travel Control and Enforcement Unit. Aden arrived in Manila on November 25 using a Somali passport. The next day, he attempted to use a Swedish passport and presented it to Philippine Airlines personnel, but was immediately questioned after his name as well as his Somali passport record appeared in the airline database. Port Operations Division chief Marc Red Mariñas said using a spurious travel document meant outright expulsion from the country. It was only during questioning when Aden produced his Somali passport, which he hid in his luggage. Aden was later booked on the first available flight to his port of origin.
