Local electricity providing firms in the town have apprised the residents of the increase via mobile text messages. The firms used to charge 1 unit by 0.3 cents and have hiked to .08 cents according to local residents. They have said that they cannot afford to pay the current electricity price and called on firms to show a high sense of compassion to poor populace.Speaking to local media, some of the residents have said that the electricity price which skyrocketed would force them to buy kerosene lanterns in lie of the high cost of electricity. Somaliland, a small country with out an international recognition where its population in nationwide is facing high costs of electricity.It is one of the challenges facing the new president, Colonel Musa Bihi Abdi, Kulmiye governing who won Somaliland presidential polls in Nov. by overwhelming majority.
