EU Delegation Meets with Kulmiye Presidential Candidate

HARGEISA–A high level European Union (EU) delegation is in Somaliland on an official working visit to Hargeisa.

Members of the delegation are from Norway , Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, UK,  Denmark, Finland and EU’s Special representative to Somalia/Somaliland. The main objective of the delegates are to be a fact finding mission in regard to the presidential polls that took place in Somaliland on 13th Nov. 2017. The EU delegation met with The Peace, Unity and Development Party, also known as Kulmiye presidential contender, Hon. Musa Bihi Abdi and were flanked by Prof. Ahmed Ismail Samatar, Hon. Jamal Ali Husein and Party’s second chairman, Hon. Ahmed Abdi Dheere.

The EU delegates said SL people are praised for peaceful voting and that they are law abiding. The delegation stressed that all political parties must wait for the results that NEC set to announce. They urged the political parties to accept the final presidential election results. All EU diplamats have said in unison by commending Somaliland which took important strides in the right direction including making huge progress.

They stated that this would be a credit to both SL people and its gov’t. They further hoped that once poll results are released and political parties would accept it without further rejections. Kulmiye presidential candidate, Hon. Musa Bihi has assured to EU diplomats that SL is determined to continue the progress and the democracy that has thrived in SL. Once again, Mr. Musa has promised to accept the results NEC will announce. The EU delegation thanked the presidential candidate for the role that he is playing in keeping calm before results are issued.

In addition, EU delegates met with Wadani Opposition party.
