Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted November 12, 2017 SOL had given me this profile picture. Coincidentally, this picture was taken in mid 1960s in the vicinity of Waajid, Bakool, Soomaaliya. That deegaan is the birthplace of my mother, as though SOL knew that this geeljire could be a long lost adeer/abti. I had seen this picture years ago online, so I had to dig a little bit on google. I finally found the original image, which is: It came from this website, which has historical pictures of Soomaaliya from 1964-65.
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted November 12, 2017 By the way, this is much, much better forum now. And so simple as well, which reminded me the nostalgic old forum from 2005-2010 of SOL's heyday.
Holac Posted November 12, 2017 Bakool and Djibouti have a lot in common when it comes to Somali tradition. Great history and Somali culture.
galbeedi Posted November 13, 2017 MMA, I did mention in one of the earlier threads that when I traveled between Daafeed and Baidoa in the middle of eighties that the camel boys were tall with big afro hair like this guy. It fits well of A typical Somali nomad

I’m guessing you’re the guy with the biggest afro in the first picture. The one in the middle.
BestCaseScenario Posted November 20, 2017 Your hair texture has to be exact though to enjoy the style. If you have too soft of a hair like some Somalis, you are out of luck.
Holac Posted November 20, 2017 ^ No, they use wax to style the hair. Wax can give all hair textures a natural lift.
