Somaliland: Justice & Welfare Party Chairman Escapes Assassination Attempt

HARGEISA–Justice & Welfare party (UCID) chairman, Hon. Faisal Ali Warabe has escaped an assassination attempt last night. Hon. Faisal was attending a function  that his justice and welfare party held at Admas Inn hotel in Hargeisa.

As reports confirm that an identified assailant  got in the hall through the window where the function was taking place and he was subdued by attendees and security forces. The assailant was determined to assassinate the chairman and told that he was sent from Mogadishu, the capital of war torn Somalia. He admitted that he was sent from Somalia along with woman to assassinate SL opposition leader.The man has further confessed that their mission was to take the life of Somaliland’s UCID chairman. Police launched an immediate investigation on the incident. Somaliland is prone to terrorist attacks once the country is holding its third democratic presidential elections on 13th Nov. 2017. The country tightened its security so as the polls will be held in a peaceful manner where voters will cast peacefully to elect their leader.
