It is good to have a constructive criticism, it is something that any healthy democracy must have and cannot prosper without it. So I welcome those who are holding the gov't to account.

 

And we expect the gov't and DP World to be more open about it.

 

Having said that, it is an open secret that there are people (including former officials i.e. namely Ali Hoor Hoor - the long time Berbera Port managing director) that have been decimating misinformation. The aim of these people is neither helpful to the general populace nor helpful to the port itself, it is purely based on personal vendetta.

 

DP World has done a lot in the short 6 months since it took control of management. The port today has world class processes and management in place. The old way of "la jiifiyana banaan, la joojiyaana banaan" no longer applies. Everything is documented, all employees are registered and their tasked clearly marked. Adhering to occupational Health and Safety is a must at all time.

 

The only thing that has not been done to the satisfactory of the agreement is the delay to the new equipment which were supposedly should have been in operation within 3 months of taking management control of the port. This is something the Gov't had voiced about with the higher managers in Dubai.

 

Other than that, everything else is on truck. There are a lot of projects which will be kicked off early next year.

Barwaaqo that isn't the only case. DP World has been in charge

of the port since October 2016 and yet we don't see any

improvements? sounds like a scam.
