Qaraami

Recommended Posts

I was reading one of the topics on the forum today about Qaraami and many of the people thought that qaraami was a love song with a guitar its not the qaraami is a chain of small love poems called belwos and is dictated by the style it is sung in there are around 66 styles of qaraami ranging from xaafuun to rogaal they are always about love for example this small tix

Sidii geed ku yaal bankii giriyaad

Goonidu waa wax laygu talagalay

Like a tree on the giriyaad plain

to be alone is what i was destined for

i have heard that sung in both the jowhara luula style and the subcis style a qaraami song would have several different tixs put together another one is

Haddi aad ubax tahay mid aad u uroo

Udgoon badan baad ahayn lahayd

If you were a flower, one with a strong scent

you would've been a fragrant one

some like the first one i posted sing of loneliness and lost love and some like the second one i posted praise the one love and there are many others

a qaraami song is genrally sung wth drums and oud a flute and some very lovely clapping but this is not always so it can be sung with just clapping.

if anyone has more iformation on Qaraami its history or the fathers of it (garabyare cabdi sinimo etc.) plz comment it below
