N.O.R.F Posted June 22, 2010 At least you guys don't have to put up with Trevor Francis. He was complaining at half time about Villa playing on the left and not getting in the box for goal scoring positions. *** Poyet looked at him and couldn't believe what he was hearing
NGONGE Posted June 22, 2010 ^^ Can't be as bad as McCarthy (for the BBC) or Beglin (for ITV). Not to mention "Manu", Hansen and Davids. But why do you listen to any of these guys anyway? As long as a comentator can tell you who has the ball when it's not clear or what is happening in the background, you should mostly ignore what these guys say. N.O.R.F Posted June 22, 2010 McCarthy? Are you serious? I was looking forward to hearing what the bbc guys had to say but forget that now. Al Jazeera have a bunch of annoying pro England maalayacniyo. Peter Reid Sam Allerdice Trevor Francis *** Poyet (he is actually very good). Les Ferdinand (he has been with the Arabic team) Ray Wilkins (good pundit) Terry Venables (doesn't remember he was part of the team when England failed to reach Euro 2008). Ali Barnabia (doesn't speak English well).
NGONGE Posted June 22, 2010 ^^ A collection of rubbish (Ray Wilkins included).
N.O.R.F Posted June 22, 2010 Not as bad as Andy Townsend
Abtigiis Posted June 22, 2010 Anigu SuperSport baan ka daa wadaa and I find John Barnes (from the list of invitees) as the best of all.
N.O.R.F Posted June 22, 2010 Barnes know his stuff. He might not be a good manager but he is a good pundit. NG, does he still do the footy on C5? Does footy still come on C5? A&T, who else is on the panel?
Legend of Zu Posted June 22, 2010 Spain has some issues to overcome. Now that I have seen how Paraguay play I think they will be beaten by Paraguay @ the Quarterfinals. Cheers
NGONGE Posted June 22, 2010 Barnes is English. All English pundits are rubbish. They only repeat what you or I (ok, not you) would say at home. You learn nothing new from listening to them and they hardly ever shed any light on any of the games. Norf, yes there is football on C5 (Europa league), they have Collymore these days not Barnes. Abtigiis Posted June 22, 2010 Ngonge, in any case after at some point, it is hard to come up with something unusual in football analysis. Even ZonalMarking is not surprising me this days. Barnes is good, I tell you. He says things that are right and doesn't pin down everything to tactics and formations. Sometimes, you got to believe that luck has part in football. How do you define hiting one long shot one day and you get a goal, and on another day you hit the post from close range 11 times. He acknowledges that there are things that are at times inexplicable in football. And that is excatly how it is! But he also gives you a good account of what each team was doing and what they need to do. WHat they do at SuperSport is they invite former ex-players of most of the big teams that are playing each particular game and get their opinions. Remember the SS guys are professional analysts as well. Edgar Davids, Sammy Kufour were the lousiest so far.
NGONGE Posted June 22, 2010 ^^ Zonalmarking gives tactics only, saaxib. It is not meant to surprise (well, not unless it is written by the manager of the particular team you're about to watch). Pundits don't have to tell you about tactics alone. They can tell you about the players whom they mostly personally know. They can tell you about the conditions of the service, the referee, etc. Who was the Brazilian that was manager of AC Milan last season (can't remember his name right now). He was a great pundit. Abtigiis Posted June 22, 2010 Leonardo. I agree with you about the other things you need to be told. But those things we have already at SuperSport. They give us a good profile of even players who play for North Korea. They are good.
N.O.R.F Posted June 22, 2010 But you guys dont have Arabic commentators. Everytime a cross is made he shouts WAZAC!
NGONGE Posted June 22, 2010 ^^ Arabic commentators start reciting poetry during games, saaxib.
Thierry. Posted June 22, 2010 Ngonge McCarthy is terrible, he should only commentate on state funerals says the Scottish guy in my team.
