New Prime Minister

Recommended Posts

Thefuturenow,

Interesting to read your posts. Where do you think this disagreement between the Prez and PM will eventually lead? Hassan Sheikh seems to possess the plurality to fire the PM in Parliament, yet supporters of the PM have been effective in blocking that vote via parliamentary disturbances. The Speaker also seems quick to close the session in both instances, hinting he might not want the vote to go ahead. This is a possibility given the rise of his Bay&Bakool political nemesis, Sharif Hassan, in winning the Presidency of the new South-Western regional state. Not to mention the Western donor pressure on the Speaker to assist in mediating the dispute between the President and the Speaker.

As for your prognosis on the leading candidates Hassan Sheikh has in mind to replace the current PM, you are correct in Xalane as one of them(according to my humble sources), but the other individual is currently not in contention. Xalane who hails from the ONLF community is one of 3 candidates on the President's shortlist of replacement PMs. The other two are from the Sool and Puntland communities. It seems the Gedo community will be sidelined once again in the usual Somalia musical chairs unless the current PM remains in office. The PM, by the way, has made attempts to reconcile in the past 10 days but the President is adamant that he must go.

Apparently, MPs that were initially 'supporting' the President joined the other camp; things don't look so clear cut for the President. Jawari seems hesitant and there is Southwest issue which was opposed by Jawari.

I don't know if my computer has virus or something but i can't access SOL all day. it gave me blank page.

Yuulka played his game niyoow and Yuulka is a winner regardless of what the corrupt MPs do. Qoslaye is finished. wounded and bleed to death. that is the reality niyoow. his grip on power and future plan is finished niyoow. yuulka put a neadle to his heart and let him bleed politically. qoslaye used all his cards and he is naked now.

wel done yuulka.

I beginning to have very short patience with folks on SOL who always want to refight yesterday's battles. On the issue of the cabinet reshuffle... Yuulka has won and it's clear for all to see.

Now, I suggest, let's move on to something else which is controversia! :D

Mintid,

This battle was won a long time ago when the president decided that he or the PM must go. There is no way the president is leaving because that means the system has failed. Also, he is simply more powerful than the PM--and we have seen that with the alignment of ministers.

But, ironically, his biggest opponents--the men pushing him out--are Xalane and the Jubba community. I have no idea what all their intentions are but we can all imagine some.

You're right. The Gedo community is definitely out for now. Xalane is the most viable candidate but remember--the president will have to manage P-Land expectations. That is why I throw Cali Xaaji Warsame in there. He shares an ideology with the president and Faarax. He is well educated. Incredibly eloquent with business acumen.

Somali politics is to use one community to influence another. And that is a very difficult act because you must find a man that can be respected/tolerated by most sides that you're trying to influence.

C/Wali could not be tolerated by enough sides. And that is he is being shown the door.

Till,

Denial is not good for the health.

Oodweyne,

If anyone won anything, the president would not have struggled for a month to remove this PM. There is no winner and no defeated lot.

It all depends on the political objective of the time. As you said, president lost Kismaayo. He got Baydhabo. Now the focus shifts to the central and north.

What you call "musical chairs" is only a president trying to get the best man to influence each region. In other words, he knows that we only trust our own. That's really the main problem, mistrust between the leaders and society as a whole.

This means, from this point onward, the ruler-ship of Somalia will be in the hand of the “Looters Incorporated”; since, the West have accepted that for Somalia to be at peace with others (not within itself!) those who were the former members of the old USC must be given the right to rule Somalia (at the presidency), and those others, particularly, the old “D-block” who used to rule Somalia (from 1969 – 1991) must be relegated to a position of a second fiddle sort of place.

lool@Oodwayene. Niyoow Shariif could have been replaced by anyone if they had enough Qatari money. niyoow we know the only reason qoslaye came to power was he planned this takeover with qatar telling them he is Ikhwaan Mursi of Somalia, got millions and then paid the number of MPs to vote for him. Oodwayene, why are you discounting the corruption part that tipped the balance for qoslaye niyoow. what if Abdiweli from Puntland had 50 million dollars. this game would have been over niyoow.

today everyone understands how to win this hard game and next election will be won by who has the most money.

Oodweyne,

I know what you mean by "looters inc." and "defeated lot." But I do not want to engage in that type of name-calling.

I agree with the reality that the presidency belongs to a few--for now. But that is no guarantee that they are in reality more powerful. This is a constitutional and federal system now. The game is different. And the PM is showing us why the game is different. The man can play politics.

But let's be honest. As you said before, the Jubba community is waiting in the wing. The stakes are much higher for this PM than Saaciid. If he loses, then he has essentially side-lined his community. That's why he has to fight.

Finally, I think the best way to judge your "Pashtun" theory is to see what happens with this PM. A clear and decisive win for the president is to take C/Wali out and still retain Faarax and all the ministers that came against the PM.

But if the president can't do that, then your pashtun theory is eh.

Oodweyne,

Kismaayo is already under the political control of the president. In fact, it is the only federal 'state' that is currently called an "administration."

The Jubba folks want the premiership. It's as simple as that. And they're trying to earn it by pushing C/Wali out.

As for your Pashtun theory, it is true that the presidency belongs to a certain group. But it may also be impractical to have anyone else as top-man. We're still in a civil war saaxiib. And, you're right, those communities that don't have the resources, numbers in Xamar have no chance of running the political show during this tense time of mistrust and enmity.

This only means that the political circumstances favor a specific group. But we have already seen how fast those political circumstances can change. And the prime example is C/Wali. He is losing the political battle. But he might win the war.

In a decade, if the Presidential position is still guaranteed for one group but the PM position is legally more powerful (re-shuffling Prez. Cabinet members; making the President a figure-head,) then who will you call the "Pashtun of Somalia"?

Saw a picture of a Somaliya MP in parliament had a serious face holding a sign up "no votes for cash" . I had a good giggle, why the masters of the universe IC are not ruling their UN colony Somalia instead of this show only Nick knows, indifference most likely .until the 2016-2099 tfg milestones who cares. The natives are natives . On a positive note If an Cagdheeer PM was elected it would rejuvenate the gossip politics and even give this Bedouin Boy soemthing for once to smile for. Dhaanto it is .

Somalis use to be proud and honourable lot. Culturally, politically and socially. When I say Somali I'm not referring to this or that I'm referring to the collective. I. E. Across the horn of Africa.

This honourable people that Ethiopia feared so much. We invaded Ethiopia so many times we crippled them. Swihili never dared look at us. Even the colonialists did know how to deal with us.

TODAY however. These fake nationalists actually tribalist not only destroyed their country by ruling unjustly. Ruling through communism and socialism and other isms that have shown their weaknesses. They tried to wipe sections of the society and promoted tribalism and destruction even after 23 YEARs not much has changed. It's gotten even worse. Somalis have become the dogs of the world not because of anyone other then the cultural backwardness of their own societies. The lack of common sense, honour, sence of history and concept of justice particularly with certain sections of society whose soul objective is tribal hegemony.

Today in the 21st century Somalis are being occupied by African nations. With the support of these so called nationalist who are not nationalists they are tribalist using mercaneries against one another and destroying their own people in the process.

The reality is this....

Today the people of southern Somalia are being destroyed because their so called elite are dogs. People who sold their souls for UN cash. Who have no concept of honour or Islam or even true love of their own people.

It pains me seriously to see these people in this non stop chaos. Because these are Muslims. I have come to the conclusion that the poison infected in them is to big to remove it's like a cancer patient whose tumor is just untreatable. Something is seriously wrong in Somali society across the board. We need a new system and new objective a new mode of operating. A new vision. This vision must be Islamic and the fake nationalists must be politically purged from positions. United nations should be told to shut and go home. AU mercaneries should be told to go home. This entire so called fake government must be removed. Cultural and Islamic concepts of government and peace making must be reintroduced.

Somalis have lost sight of their objective, honour and sincerity. So God will destroy you and replace you with another people. As is the case now.
