Mooge Posted April 2, 2014 As you know, the people Gedo have made a strong decision to form Jubbaland with their brothers and move on from the chaos of 25 years and live in a legitimate federal state with pride. Their elders, their intellectuals, their politicians have all made the decision to be part of a bigger future. But just like SSC who did that with Puntland in 1998, once Gedo's destiny was sealed, South West State played the Somaliland-SSC card and decided to pay Gedo politicians like Maxamuud Sayid Aadan (the guy saying he is the VP of the South West State) and try to lay claim to the land as being part of South West Federal State instead of Jubaland. to me Gedo is the new SSC where outsiders will exploit the greed of few lone politicians who don't have weight in the clan. I don't see this stopping anytime soon. I think you will always have Gedo politicians saying they are part of South West State while the real Gedo will always be part of Jubaland. I know South West claims Jubaland itself, but that is just not going to work. It is Gedo that will eventually be exploited to max by politicians in Baidoa. Xaaji there is something about Politics which attracts the very worst of Somali society. This is true not only for the North but also the South of Somalia. Our leaders are the worst of us. This type of degeneracy I wouldn't expect from your regular 25 year old Somali at home or in the diaspora.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 3, 2014 I dont think its the leaders its the people the leaders are a small minority of the soceity . for example in Somaliland the elites cannot put one region against the other in order for the people to distrust each other , but in Somalia people really the people love the divisions love the tribal politics and love to use external forces to reach their objectives they support the leaders to do this its sad but its the reality. Xaaji.....The leaders of Somaliland are just as terrible as the leaders of Somalia. It's just that the people of Somaliland are fortunate enough to have a common interest. So this is why the North has been able to maintain some modicum of stability. Somaliland is plagued with Diaspora Taxi Drivers wearing cheap 50 dollar suits and return to their homeland to become a "Minister" of something. Wallahi our leaders are the worst of us, and the sensible and sincere Somalis generally stay out of politics altogether.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 3, 2014 Yes u are right common interest is the key the people of Somalia have no common interest or alteast this is what they show the gave the politicians the chance to represent the corrupt one. In Somaliland the leaders can be bad , but they serve the people they might be corrupt but they are scared to death to lose power. in Somaliland the people are in the driver seat. in Somalia the people are bad and and give chance to their leaders and distrust each other. Take for example reer bay and bakool allow sharif hassan and his brother to represent him the people of Kismayo allow ahmed madoobe who used to be a terrorist represent them. The people of galmudug allow a USC warlord represent them, its the people who allow this to happen. The leaders take a advantage of the hostile tribes.
