Somalia: Warm welcome to Puntland president in Bossaso Port City

BOSSASO, Somalia March 22, 2013 (Garowe Online)-The President of Somalia's north eastern state of Puntland Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas has arrived to warm welcome in the Gulf of Adan port city of Bossaso on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

The Governor of Bari region Abdisamad Mohamed Galan, Bossaso Mayor Hassan Abdalla Hassan, traditional leaders and members of the public received President Gaas' delegation in the outskirts of port city of Bossaso, marking his first visit to Puntland's most populous city since being elected to the post on 8th of January 2014.

Shortly after the welcoming rallies, the motorcade carrying Puntland President drove into Bossaso Presidential Palace under tight security.

Speaking to media members, the President thanked the people who came out for his visit for the warm welcome and reiterated that his chief aim is to deliver on election promises.

 

Ahead of his arrival in Bossaso, Puntland leader made pre-planned stops in Qardo, Rako Raho, Waiye and Armo towns on the Galkayo-Bossaso highway.

 

President Gaas is being accompanied on the regional tour by Interior Minister Ahmed Elmi Osman (Ahmed Karash), Security Minister Hassan Osman Mohamud Alore, Health Minister Sadik Enow, Puntland Defense Forces Chief Gen. Saed Mohamed Hirsi (Saed Dheere) and Parliamentarians.
