Saalax Posted March 20, 2014 Siilaanyo is everything that is wrong with African leaders, making promises he can't fulfill in his last year on top of past projects he couldn't complete. As a 80 year old one would think he would at least have some respect for himself and not make false promises to the locals for political campaigning. galbeedi Posted March 20, 2014 Saalax, all this 'dhagax Dhif" is electionaring by Siilaanyo. Before they can build any thing, let them fix their Kulmiye party which is delayed for the fourth time. Having said that if the opposition does not clean their act, these guys could win easily, again. The best way to defeat Kulmiye are: 1- Ucid and Wadani must merge together if they want to have any chance of defeating Kulmiye. Remember they were the same party before the formation of Wadani. 2- C/raxman Cirro does not have the political will or the backbone to face Kulmiye. His dithering decision making and weaknesses allowed Kulmiye to thrive in the early days. Rather than hit when they were down, he gave them life line. 3- both Cirro and Siilaanyo represent the old guard. 4- In order to succeed the merged parties should nominate Jamaal Cali Husseen as a candidate. 5- Remember Rayaale, Waranadde and Cirro destroyed Udub. 6- Mr. Cirro, During the last Parliament crises, he could not even gain one single member both from Awdal and Sool. If these steps are taken, the election would be a contrast between two diametrically opposed ideas , parties and candidates. On one side you have Jamaal who can claim these important attributes: 1- He is young, educated and articulate. Infact, he is a Harvard graduate and former City Bank executive. 2- He is not connected with any corruption or old guard politics. 3- No one can accuse him of tribal politics or nepotism. 4- He is independently wealth , who earned his money in a legal way unlike many who gained richness through Oligarchy and kickbacks. He does not need to steal money to live comfortably. 5- Unlike Siilaanyo and Cirro he represents the future. 6- He will not be surrounded by Relatives or others to articulate his vision. 7- By electing Jamal, The Somaliland people can claim change for the first time in 12 years. How about bringing these two opposing leaders ( one young and charismatic, the other old and tired), in the same room and debate the main issues of the day. I do believe Jamal could win that debate easily. The problem is they will never allow a democratic debate for the people to judge their leaders. Saalax, do you have any alternative to defeat these guys.
Saalax Posted March 20, 2014 galbeedi Agreed. I had a similar suggestion in mind, it logical that the combined voters of WADANI and UCID can clearly humiliate Kulmiye big time as they have numerical advantage. As you know nowadays WADANI and UCID party are tight, I think their supporters would have no problem with rotation between the two parties. One taking the President the other Vice. It could be the strongest ever alliance in Somaliland, it can be a good way to dislodge Kulmiye.
STOIC Posted March 20, 2014 You think HY will let a man from another sub-clan lead Wadani, or even entertain the idea of merger! It would be a political malpractice for them.Sorry to say it, but my cousins are very clannish just like the Silanyo they vociferously accuse all the time. I highly doubt they will embrace such a compromise! Meanwhile, Feisal doesn't have a charisma to lead, and in fact he should step aside and shut his mouth. As the election draws closer Feisal should let the man do the campaigning! Let the young guy take over and lead a clean campaign!

Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 21, 2014 Somaliland need as much ports as it can build , Ethiopia is next door Somaliland should capitalize on that huge market in Ethiopia a port in Lughaya a port in berbera a port in mait and a port in laasqoray. Problem is the Somaliland opposition parties are mostly reactive they dont bring forward ideas to move SL forward , every one wants change and cut down on corruption and better development and a better prospect of the future. But i doubt the SL opposition can surpass the leading Elites of Somaliland Kulmiye. They havent brought forward what their policies are what they will do with the economy how they will create jobs for the youth how will they reconstruct the country this is all missing. Somalilanders were right on the money when they elected Kulmiye and ousted udub , because udub only held elections not a single road or a hospital was build during their reign. If Kulmiye starts the road construction and even finishes half of the road by the time of the elections they have a big chance of winning again. Wiil Cusub Posted March 21, 2014 To talk about corruption how can you explain this chart? If Siilanyo is corrupt what will you call Rayaale and Cawil?
Saalax Posted March 21, 2014 A couple of buildings a Kuwait donated aid money to the airport is not something to brag about. What is worse is he messed up the airport even with the aid money given to him by Kuwait. When he couldn't finish it on time due to corruption, Kuwait had to lend him another $5 million and the airport doesn't still look like it has been invested in $1 million nevermind the $10 million. So yes Siilaanyo is very corrupted. Don't expect him to be able to build multi million port projects, it is simply out of his capacity. Wiil Cusub Posted March 21, 2014 Salax be honest for your argument. It isn't important who donated but what important is is this government more dynamic than previous one. Dhagax dhigid iyo xadhig jarid labadaba ma sameeyaan? If Kuwait fund is messed why do they paid second phase of Egal int. airport You can repeat and repeat he is corrupt but come with facts and statics
Saalax Posted March 21, 2014 This is not a comparison about who is worse, rather Kulmiye is failing the nation, if you want to talk about UDUB it is better to open a different thread. The reason Kuwait donated $5 million more is because the $5 million donated couldn't finish the project since Siilaanyo and his court jesters mismanaged it and they had to be rescued from further humiliation. The Jigjiga airport cost around $5 - 10 million and it is way better built than the Hargeisa airport that Siilanyo claims to have built it with $10 million Kuwaiti donated cash but looks like barely $1 million refurbishment . It is clear he is corrupted. As for the donation of course it is important since it is not out of Siilaanyo's pocket is it? No need to try brag about something that was donated by another nation as his "achievement".

The Jigjiga airport cost around $5 - 10 million and it is way better built than the Hargeisa "achievement". Salax you disappointed me that you came back same argument as ignorant opposition leaders made some time ago. First who is on the earth want donate 5M while he know the other 5M is mismanage? again why Kuwait paid 1 M third company for supervise and controlling. We know Kuwait paid 10 M (1 M for external company for controlling 4,5 M Hargeisa runway and 4.5 for Berbera terminal) 4,5 M for 2600 m runway and taxiing space A Kuwaiti company has been granted $1 million of the funds for its advisory role in construction matters, Abdi said. The company estimated the cost of the airports' rehabilitation and will also oversee the implementation process, as Somaliland currently lacks such capacity, Abdi told Sabahi . "The runway of Hargeisa International Airport, which was 2.4 kilometres, will be surfaced with asphalt, which will strengthen the runway capability. This will ensure large planes can land successfully," Abdi said. "In addition, a 13-kilometre perimeter fence will be constructed to improve security." Abdi said the plan is to expand the existing runway to 3 kilometres and build a lighting system to guide planes landing at night. As planned early second phase of project is now on bid The Somaliland Government has recently received a new grant to finish the remaining 1KM of the runway and to build electrical system that will support for day and night operations of the Airport. When construction of this size is to be done to an Airport, it should be conducted in bidding processes and the contract should be awarded to source About Jigjiga it cost more than 10 M (terminal and runway) and it was almost 10 years ago (you can Google all information if u need to conform)
Wiil Cusub Posted March 21, 2014 More info The Minister of Aviation also added that the duration of the Kuwait funded projects expected to last for six month and it will officially commence on the 1st of March till August 2014 The Project will be jointly monitored by the National Tender Board, Ministry of Civil Aviation and representatives of the Kuwait Fund but all funds relating to the project shall be solely administered by representatives of the Kuwaiti fund as I heard said before we had agreed to this term with Kuwait because we are committed to be transparency with all donor funds, rather than say gives us the money, we tell them help us build infrastructure”. When the project is completed Kuwaiti Fund will turn the complete project back to Somaliland government.
Source
