Dalmar1 Posted March 19, 2014 Mogadishu (RBC) Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has voiced that his government will not oppose the will of the local people if they desire to form regional states including Khatumo State in the country’s northern region, RBC Radio reports. Speaking at Universal TV-hosted Question and Answer program late on Monday, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was asked if his government recognized Khatumo State as a federal state in Somalia. “The government will never oppose a decision reached by Somali people who have come together and agreed on their future, who have sit under the tree-shed ad then agreed on something; we won’t oppose what they have agreed on.” President Mohamud answered. “.. On the side of the government, if the people of Khatumo State have agreed on something we will respect those and we will support them.” he added. Asked about the Somalia, Somaliland talks in Turkey, President Mohamed reiterated that the only goal for those talks is to regain full unity for the nation of Somalia. He said the dialogue with Somaliland was a process launched by the former Transitional Government but they wanted to see one Somali, with one flag and one government.
