Admin Posted February 10, 2014 TUNIS — Tunisia’s government said Sunday that a suspect in the July 25 assassination of an opposition politician was among four men arrested in an overnight counterterrorism raid. A statement by the Interior Ministry described the men as “dangerous terrorists” and identified one as Ahmed Melki, known as “the Somali,” who is wanted in connection with the assassination of Mohamed Brahmi, a left-wing lawmaker whose slaying last summer provoked a political crisis. One of the suspects arrested on Sunday was described as severely wounded after being shot in the face. Three police officers were wounded in the gun battle. Last week, Tunisian forces stormed the house of a suspect in the Februaryslaying of another left-wing politician, Chokri Belaid. All seven militants in the house were killed. Tunisia has been battling extremists with links to Al Qaeda since its 2011 revolution. http://www.somaliaonline.com/tunisia-captures-ahmed-the-somali-who-is-believed-to-be-behind-the-assassination-that-provoked-political-turmoil-in-that-country/ Source: AP

burahadeer Posted February 11, 2014 why call him Somali?
Gheelle.T Posted February 11, 2014 Melki is certainly not a Somali name, but anything is possible these days. Anyway, Somali or not, if found guilty of the alleged crime, fry him!
ElPunto Posted February 13, 2014 'Ahmed el Melki, alias Al Somali était un voisin du député Brahmi ' He is not Somali - He is a cousin of the guy he's accused of assassinating. Why our name must be dragged in the mud is a mystery.
