Khayr Posted January 15, 2014 So it appears that people the selection process for the Mars trip is getting narrower. The launch date being in 2023. So can you guess what the selected group will look like?

DoctorKenney Posted January 16, 2014 Most of us won't even visit Antarctica, so why would any of us want a one-way trip to Mars?

Khayr Posted January 16, 2014 Well, how would you perform your salat? What direction would you face? You would be cut off from you roots and the deen protects our roots and identity. I mean if you don't know where you are from then how could you ever reorient yourself. The idea is ludicrous.

DoctorKenney Posted January 16, 2014 It's not a very difficult question to answer. You face towards the Earth.

Khayr Posted January 17, 2014 If you are on a spaceship, that may be possible albeit a little difficult for the ship to point towards earth. If on another planet or moon, then you can't face the earth do to gravity's pull. You have lost your orientation all together and are an alien on another surface. The fact that it doesn't sound like an idiotic idea to some of you does baffle me. Caajib!
Allyourbase Posted January 17, 2014 @Khayr said: Well, how would you perform your salat? What direction would you face? Actually this very question also applies to prayers here on earth. You see, due to the sphericity of our planet, you can not physically be facing Mecca, instead you are most likely praying in the direction of outer space. Just a thought

Khayr Posted January 17, 2014 Offbase, Thanks for proving my point about you and your severe learning disability. I feel so sorry for you.
Allyourbase Posted January 17, 2014 Dearest brother Khayr, hate to break this to ya, laakin that aspect of my post is supported by xeerka PHYSICS .The directionality of prayers assumes a flat surface BUT the Earth is not flat and thus it follows that just like how your eyesight does not bend with the ground, your prayers (Im so sorry!) go to OUTER SPACE. Another aspect of this is the Antipode of your qibla, which is the position that lies at the direct opposite of the Kabba on the globe, that is a place on this earth where you in theory can face any direction to Mecca (Though technically you are still facing space, right?) Bal kawarran taas?
thefuturenow Posted January 17, 2014 ^ You're so silly sometimes. I can only hope my prayers reach outer space. Waa ba ku duceeystaa.
