What I'm denying is the notion that we're not demanding our rights. Kenya today is a changed place and the Somalis are making strides. This is why Mandera County received the biggest county budget I believe. From now on we will only blame ourselves for our underdevelopment as the central government is at last giving the area decent money. It is the practice of colonists to spend more on the unruly regions to keep a tighter control on that population. They also pay their native police force a higher wage so that they oppress with more vigor and enthusiasm. Higher budget means nothing. The man who writes the check dictates its allocation. Of course, as we see in the documentary, security issues are paramount at the moment. It would be unwise for that money to be used in any manner that is not spying on, corralling, and caging those unruly and disloyal locals.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted November 20, 2013 People are to harsh on the Somali Kenyans, kenya was an entity indeed created by the English the Somalis lived in that entity all their lives they have never been conquered by other ethnic groups, they were never put under a Kenyan empire by other Kenyans. They fought for Somali nationalism for what it was and because of that they were punished by other Kenyans who considered the Somali Kenyans their own people and their own countrymen. I believe if the Luos wanted to be united with Uganda they would face the same repercussions. The Somali Kenyans tried their best to fight for Somali nationalism but it failed both the Somalis in the than Somali republic and the Somali Kenyans failed to unite. Now the Somali Kenyans have given up on that and are fighting for their rights with in the Kenyan society. Its hard when your country of Birth Kenya is battling your ethnic Kins across the border and you are accused by others of harboring alshabaab. This seems to be a problem but what can be done if Somali Kenyans unite and fight together for their rights in Kenya and get a fair piece of the pie.
