Tallaabo Posted October 25, 2013 Saalax;982909 wrote: Why are people comparing apples and oranges. Somali men marrying non Somali women is different because the children will still be Somali by ethnicity. They will have Somali citizen-ships, Were's kids born to Somali women and foreign fathers will not be accepted in Somali society. So let's look things in a Somali society's perspective rather than western perspective. No the children born to a Somali father and a foreign mother will not be ethnically Somali but will be mixed race. They may carry a clan name but they are not full Somali just like the offspring of a Somali woman and a foreign man. Indeed the children born to Somali mother and an Oromo father will be more ethnically Somali than those born to a Somali man and a European or an Asian woman. Ethnicity and the Somali style clan system are two completely different things.
Ibtisam Posted October 25, 2013 Why is it even so important whether they are Somali or not- it is not like the Somali race will miss them. My children are mine- it is irrelevant to me what race they are so long as they are good muslims, human being, healthy, and good to their parents, could contribute to a better world in their limited capacity. The rest is just fluffy decoration. Who knows maybe those kids will marry a Somali or another foreigner and some generations down the line they will either become as Somali as me and you, or as Bengali as their grandfather. But so long as they maintain their religion any parent would be proud. DoctorKenny- regardless of race or ethnicity- it is the mans role and responsibility to provide his wife with a home, car, clothes, food and anything else she may require- to the same standard she was use to- THAT his god given responsibility. Unless of course uu markii horebaa gidaarka ka kaxeystey. Any man who does not waxba ka dhiman his manhood- it is not a bargain or something to aspire to. That aside- the double standard you speak of few and far in between.
Saalax Posted October 25, 2013 Tallaabo That is the western perspective they place too much importance on the ethnicity of the mother side hence categorizing people as "mixed" they even categorize people with different grandmothers of different ethnicity as "mixed" in order to try to confuse people and make them identity less .In Somali society though if your father is Somali you're Somali, clan rules everything. Take for example the Swedish MP Amir Adan of Somaliland origin, his mother is Swedish and his father is a Somalilander. He considers himself a Somalilander and advocates for Somaliland openly, he also visited Somaliland many times along with his sister. Somali society places importance in the father lineage not mother lineage, so if your father is Somali you're considered a ethnic Somali. His sister at May 18 at the back. Somali society is similar to Arab society, you're what your father is, it doesn't matter what ethnicity your mother is. The king of Jordan's mother is English and his father is Arab, he is considered as an Arab and the king of Jordan. A Oromo kid or other foreign kids born to a Somali woman will never be a Somali. Being Somali means having a Somali father (clan/abtirsi).

Ibtisam Posted October 26, 2013 Rahima, sometimes I can't decide halgaan ma adults baa miis post teenage angry baa guubaya. Salaax and Hawdian: no not traditional welcome (war has made people hostile in any case), they are practically worshiped- you know why? because there is a deep seated unconscious complex obsessiveness Somali's have with beauty and our love for everything NEW- at least till the novelty wears off by then they will be best placed in society (afforded by their background, neutrality in clan, education- compared to local population) to fend for themselves and govern the likes of you who return in old age from the west. That is the reality. Weligaab angry posts on SOL ku qor. While you are proclaiming faith with your lips, be careful to have it even more in your heart- waxaan aad ku walaanteen yaan jar ka tuurin. Saalax Posted October 26, 2013 Ibtisam That is false. Maybe your talking about some white girls, but no one likes a foreigner men coming to their land. Ask the racism Nimcaan Bowden faced a so called white born to a Somaliland woman about 22 years ago . He now wishes to leave Somaliland to a different country because the discrimination he faced. So don't sell people false dreams that aren't there but the reality, the locals if they see anybody with a different color than the usual Somalilanders who don't belong to them they start to bully them. So if the whites are facing racism, do you think Nigerians and Bengalis will be welcomed Lol? Riiyo baad ku noshahay Ibtisaam, they will be called curry eaters and adoon. You don't know our people back home well, we all know how Oromos are already treated and deported daily. The locals are more ok with other people visiting their country but not integration into their society , the whole Somaliland citizenship is anti integration from other non Somaliland communities. They even discriminate against other non Somaliland Somalis and here Ibtisam is trying to convince us they will accept Bengalis and Nigerians in their society Lool. Let's be realistic.
