Her facial features very much resembles that of any ethnic group from the Horn (Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and to a certain degree, Northern-Sudan). Are you offended to have an African-American woman's looks be compared to that of any ethnic group from the Horn, specifically the Somali ethnic group? No, I'm offended by people who feel the need to relate anyone who appears to not have stereotypically "black" features to the Horn, as though there isn't a diversity of features and skin tones present in the African American population already. Almost laughable when you consider the woman you're talking about, and her role in the Black Power movement.
Safferz Posted September 12, 2013 Missed the point completely. Read her book - it's quite good - hopefully you'll learn a few things about race and identity from her, and perhaps come to understand why your comments here are problematic. PS - derailing a thread is when someone introduces a new topic/discussion in the comments, not when someone comments on a topic that the OP has introduced. If you're going to have a tantrum when people here talk about her facial features, consider removing that comment from your initial post.
