How South Somalia should look like

I love the Swahili design - it feels East African -- with some hints of Arabian in there. [My Somali Supremacy fantasies includes that the most southern border of the Somali Empire is Mombasa, but now it seems Kismayo is their border city ]

 

What we have today is people just wanting to build new buildings that do not reflect Somali history, basically like Bosaso and Hargeisa, cities that have no cultural buildings. They feel fake.

Even the North needs to jump on. Go for a Somali look rather than trying to be *new* cause it will never look modern unless it becomes like Dubai but we can create majestic sights. It's not just large buildings but small things such as doors, windows etc. Look at old day Bosaso:

 

 

 

 

You have to work with what you have the South needs to have that tropical feeling with white buildings - palm trees. etc. The north would have more of an Arabian feeling.

They are from our neighbors down south. Mombasa, Lamu, Malinidi (Kenya) and Zanzibar (Tanzania).

 

It strongly shows their heritage and history - something lacking in our buildings even though our history is greater than theirs. Because we along with the Turks saved their asses

The Somali-Ottoman offensive managed to drive out the Portuguese from several important cities such as Pate, Mombasa and Kilwa. However, the Portuguese governor sent envoys to Portuguese India requesting a large Portuguese fleet. This request was answered and it reversed the previous offensive of the Muslims into one of defense. The Portuguese armada managed to re-take most of the lost cities and began punishing their leaders, but they refrained from attacking Mogadishu.[36] Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries successive Somali Sultans defied the Portuguese economic monopoly in the Indian Ocean by employing a new coinage which followed the Ottoman pattern, thus proclaiming an attitude of economic independence in regard to the Portuguese.[37]
