Tallaabo Posted August 9, 2013 Mr Dawkins has a point. Just compare the number of Jews who won this most prestigious of awards with that of the Muslim recipients. Population wise the Muslims are well over 1.5 billion strong whereas the Jews number about only 15 million or about the same size as the Somali population. nuune Posted August 9, 2013 Muslims don't need useless invented awards to prove that they are capable of anything or that they are human beings!
Naxar Nugaaleed Posted August 9, 2013 the comparison between a college and a faith is just as bad as using the Nobel to gauge the scientific advancement of societies. One the other hand, I think its obvious to all that since most Muslim nations and peoples are from poor third world countries, that they indeed are behind. Anaga Afrikada madowna iska ba daa. Lets all hope all that university building that has become the fashion among the petro kingdoms leads to something tangible.
nuune Posted August 9, 2013 And this guy never mentioned that the oldest universities in the world, as well as libraries are found in the Muslim world!

That's a myth, " Thus the university, as a form of social organization, was peculiar to medieval Europe. Later, it was exported to all parts of the world, including the Muslim East; and it has remained with us down to the present day. But back in the Middle Ages, outside of Europe, there was nothing anything quite like it anywhere." even if it was true, where talking about the present not the past, get your head out of your backside. The only group of people I've seen who can legitimately claim they were bilked out of recieving Nobel prizes are a handful of Indian scientists. You need only look at the case of the Abdus Salam to know that it isn't non-Muslims who are holding back Muslim scientists.

Ambassador Posted August 11, 2013 Mathematics and science should be taught in the muslim world. Some scholars think learning these subjects will deviate one from the righteous path which is a false assumption. I do not agree with Dawkins at all because people who can learn but haven't had the opportunities made available to them aren't intellectually inferior, they just haven't had the chance to prove themselves. Tallaabo Posted August 11, 2013 Bellow is the list of Jewish Nobel laureates. It looks like a roll call of science's greats. They constitute at least 22% of the recipients and have won in every category and in every decade since the prize's foundation one hundred years ago. And I can comfortably bet that in two months' time when the 2013 winners are announced, they will include at least three Jews. They are truly blessed with intellectual power. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/nobels.html Now let us take a look at our Muslim community;) http://www.masada2000.org/nobel.html The second link is interesting:(

Professor Abdus Salam deservedly won the physics prize for his discovery of the weak nuclear force but he belonged to the Ahmadiya sect which is not considered Muslim. So in fact no Muslim ever won a Nobel in the physics category:eek:
