Democracy is not about going to the voting booths once every couple of years and electing someone. That is just one part of the whole idea.

 

The whole idea is about giving people a way to influence their affairs and destiny. So if this new council has a different opinion that needs to be heard, then the shall be given the floor to exercise their freedom of express.

 

Somaliland needs strong and influential civil organisations whether they be consultative groups or academic think tanks, that will keep the government accountable to the people.

Suldaanka what we need is a strong Parliament but there is no Parliament at the moment the Guurti seems to be very pro the goverment the same with he house of the representatives. Somaliland needs to hold parliament elections as soon as possible. I believe that is the way forward.

Garmaqaate these people are ethnic Somalilandish people not persay Somaliland nationals the same way some one from Bookh of the Garaad clan is also an Ethnic Somalilandish person. But not persay a Somaliland national.

Ok, so they are ethnic somalanders, since their ancestor was "technically" a somalilander?. I naturally find this statement nonsensical but did you know according to your "constitution" they would be illegal aliens, whereas the folks from Xarshin and Gashaamo and Djibouti qualify for citizenship. Lol.

Nope according to the Somaliand constitution those in ethiopia what ever clan they are, cannot be Somalilanders.Where do you get that from, SL constitution says nothing about Djiboutian nationals or ethiopian nationals if they can be Somalilanders.

Article 4: Citizenship

 

1. Any person who is a patrial[10] of Somaliland being a descendant of a person residing in Somaliland on 26th June 1960 or earlier shall be recognised as a citizen of Somaliland.

 

2. The law[11] shall determine the acquisition or lossof the citizenship of Somaliland.

 

Article 5: Religion

 

1. Islam is the religion of the Somaliland state[12], and the promotion[13] of any religion in the territory of Somaliland, other than Islam, is prohibited.

 

2. The laws of the nation shall be grounded[14] on and shall not be contrary to Islamic Sharia.

 

3. The state shall promote religious tenets (religious affairs) and shall fulfil Sharia principles and discourage immoral acts and reprehensible behaviour[15].

 

4. The calendar shall be the Islamic Calendar based on the hijra[16], and the Gregorian Calendar.

 

Article 6: Language

 

1. The official language of the Republic of Somaliland is Somali and the second language is Arabic.

I dont know where you get the word isirka was or tribe was not mentioned in the SL constitution.
