Safferz Posted July 27, 2013 I'm going to take advantage of the internet access I have here in Hargeisa to dump some photos from my trip over the next few days in this thread. As some of you already know, I've been in the region for about six weeks now for research. So far haven't had to go beyond Degeh Bur, but I'm considering a trip out to Gode within the next two weeks. Feel free to add photos, I believe there's a Jijiga photos thread but I haven't seen one dedicated to the entire kilil Jijiga by bajaj An OG subclan's shir and election of a new sultan, Cobale Recording elders, living archives Women at a wedding in Degeh Bur A lot of the houses outside of Jijiga looked like this... beautiful clay walls, usually with brightly coloured walls (green seemed to be a favourite)
Safferz Posted July 27, 2013 Hi I was so terrified on the bus between Harar and Dire Dawa (a crazy driver speeding on the road winding down those mountains) that I decided to fly back lol Pool in Dire Dawa This man yelled at me for taking his photo, but I had to The ancient walls of Harar
Mad_Mullah Posted July 27, 2013 ^ LOL. What propoganda. ****** is persecuted area but let's not exaggerate. It's not Bosnia.
Safferz Posted July 27, 2013 ^^ not to mention swelling the importance of SOL as a propaganda platform for the Ethiopian state, lmao. I photographed people as they live and the towns and cities as they are, there's nothing nasty or staged about it.

Are you from Wardheer, Haatu?
Reeyo Posted July 28, 2013 Apophis, you and your bitter self, honestly mate get off your couch and go do some travelling, the media is only one person's perspective. Safferz, wonderful pictures, thank you for sharing.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted July 28, 2013 Good pictures jigjiga is making allot of progress the dds regime is investing allot in the region although it doesn't get the attention as the rest of the ethiopian kilils. its making some good progress. Thanks for sharing.
Safferz Posted July 28, 2013 Buraanbur Jijiga I feel like this photo best captures the chaos that is Ethiopian bus stations, and the (apparently illegal) white vans that travel between cities Degeh Bur

Again, forgive me if my protest appears “bitter" to you, I'd hate to disturb your Reeyo world. And for your information: I have travelled before and I'm currently traveling. But I guess one cannot be considered as “travelled" if they haven't been to the one road town (ironically) known as Hargeisa. By that standard, no, I have not travelled. Kulaha "my people," we are all Somalis here and you know nothing about the backgrounds or concerns of the people who post here, including myself. There is also nothing more real than the photos I've taken in my weeks in the kilil, and that I will continue to take when I return in a few days. Hop off. Xaaji Xunjuf Posted July 28, 2013 The Somali region made allot of progress , but that doesn't mean there are equal rights there like all the other regions, the reason why also there is no real progress in the region compared to other regions, is because there is also infighting jabhad ONLF. Also the other reason is the TPLF regime doesn't like to share the wealth of the nation. Even though the ethiopian regime is an Ethnic regime controlled by the Minority Tigray ethnic. I have visited Jigjiga several times to its a city with allot of potential. By the way there is nothing fake or propaganda what safferz posted people do live a normal life in Jigjiga its not a warzone and people do not get massacred there. Libaax-Sankataabte Posted July 28, 2013 Wonderful pictures Safferz. I knew you would come through and bless us with some goodies. Thanks for the great pictures. Apophis, Awoowe, we should all encourage nomads to post travel pictures on SOL. It is part of our tradition here. Calm down Awoowe.

He has his reasons to be bitter but I don't know why he's making a fuss over ordinary pictures.
