Somaliland prepares for mass cattle trade

Despite famine in the region, animal traders in the horn of Africa are preparing for busy month ahead.

Animals vastly outnumber people in Somaliland.

 

Around three and a half million people live in the region as compared to an estimated 8 million goats and more than one million camels.

 

Animal traders in Somaliland are preparing for a busy month as the Muslim holiday, Eid,

approaches.

 

Despite famine elsewhere in the region, millions of goats, sheep and camels are sold to Saudi Arabia every year.
