Saalax Posted July 3, 2013 A shocking report of the level of oppression in Mogadishu districts against non HAG groups has been published on 24, June, 2013 by MOGADISHU DISTRICT ASSESSMENTS. In Xamarweyne district HAG are forcing themselves on the local minority Benadiri women in marriage and sidelining Benadiris in the Administration, despite them making up the majority in the district. Xamarweyne D691 wrote: The district has never been under the control of Al Shabaab, and it enjoys a relative degree of security. It is also a key business center. Xamarweyne is mostly inhabited by the Banaadiri clans (Shashi, Bandhabow, Camudi, Baajuuni) or coastal people, although the district administration is mainly made up of the Cadaado sub-clan of HAG. It hosts some IDPs, although significantly less in comparison to other districts; it holds an estimated 10 IDP camps in total. The district hosts the main fish and vegetable markets in Mogadishu. Government structures, such as the Central Bank of Somalia, and some government ministries are housed here. The DC, who has been a DC since the time of Siyad Barre, although in other districts, cooperates with the SNG, and his militia was integrated in the Somali National Police Force. Additionally, there has been a lot of intermarriage between the Banaadiri women and HAG men, "not always voluntarily" and, in return, these minority clans receive protection from the HAG. There are some a small number of organizations operating in the district, with focus laid on waste disposal, sanitation and HIV/AIDS awareness. In this district inhabited mainly by Bantus, Benadiris and other groups they are sidelined by HAG in the administration even though they make up the majority. WAABERI D691 wrote: Waaberi, one of the most populated districts in Mogadishu, and has never been under full control of AS. The Turkish Government has committed to rehabilitate the Polytechnic in an attempt to make it functional again. It is estimated that the majority of inhabitants are from the non-Somali ethnic minorities – the Benaadiri – including Jareer, Arabs, Braves and minority of other clans . Regardless, the Karaan HAG sub-clan dominates the higher levels of the district administration structure . The largest source of revenue for the district remains the Mogadishu Airport. The districts’s location remains also strategic due to the main route to the Presidential Palace running through it. This report sheds to light the horrible oppression happening against non HAG groups behind the curtain in Mogadishu districts. Click here to view the full assessment for the other districts. Carafaat Posted July 4, 2013 We need to learn to discuss issues constructively without using it to finger point or take criticism as personal attacks on clans/groups of people. After all, we want the best thing for our people. I truly believe all Somalis want a country and people in peace with each other. And we can only achieve that if we discuss issues in a constructive way, only then can we work towards that same goal. Regarding this article and many other articles addressing issues in Mogadishu or Kismayo. These articles focus on finger pointing and accuse specific clans of ill intentions. No Somali clan has ill intentions for Somalia. Besides this kind of thinking is not constructive and it won't help us getting closer to more understanding nor how we could create the inclusive, diverse and effective government institutions we all want. Saalax Posted July 4, 2013 This is not an article but rather an assessment of a independent reliable body who went to assess the districts in Mogadishu.
Cambuulo iyo bun Posted July 4, 2013 there are many flaws in that article such as reer dayniile being the majority in h/wadaag first of all its a shared district but the Dothrakis of Galgaduud are the majority in that area, waabeeri aint a non somali ethnic majority same with shibis and abdicasiis and Boondheere
