Mad_Mullah Posted June 20, 2013 Hargeisa needs some serious urban planning, internationally speaking it still looks like a mix of a shanty town and village and that's not because it's small or 'poor' but due to lack of planning.
Carafaat Posted June 20, 2013 Absolutely, but how can you plan anything when all land is private owned and there is speculation on land prices. They need to nationalise land first.
brainblaster456 Posted June 20, 2013 Hargeisa would be less of a shanty looking, well Infrastructure and organised if the city was controlled by National government.
Mad_Mullah Posted June 20, 2013 LOL @ National Government, they can't give control of Hargeisa to HAG or D-Block for that matter. They will tax the hell out of them and then use that money to invest in their own tuulos. But I like that the Landers are also caring about those less fortunate like the orphans etc. Unlike Some areas in Somalia where they let the Turk do it for them. Saalax Posted June 20, 2013 Don't hate kids. Hargeysa despite total destruction two decades ago today is the best looking Somali city if you exclude Djibouti.
Mad_Mullah Posted June 20, 2013 Prize will have to go to Jigjiga still brother It's not just about buildings but how the city was planned, infrastructure, no random roads etc. They had Chinese etc. helping in the urban planning but due to Somaliland still officially being part of Somalia not many people are willing to work there. Carafaat Posted June 20, 2013 Loooool@ Jigjiga vs Hargeysa. To bad there is no regional football tournement. So we could openly feed our chauvinistic sentiments.
Mad_Mullah Posted June 20, 2013 If it continues like that I might have to change my mind ^ Mashallah. Hargeisa is definitely a good spot to invest.
Saalax Posted June 20, 2013 Do you even know the size of Jigjiga? It is a village compared to Hargeisa and it doesn't have many modern towers like Hargeisa.Burco and Jigjiga would make more sense, even though Burco is larger and has more expensive modern towers. Mad_Mullah Posted June 20, 2013 Don't care bro, urban planning wise, Jigjiga is better than Hargeisa.

Its not only about city planning, but without nationlisation of land you can hardly take forward agriculture, mining, infrastructure and development in general. Somaliland needs to nationalise land or otherwise it risks slowing down development.

Saalax Posted June 20, 2013 That is because Jigjiga was never totally destroyed besides it is helped by the internationally recognized Ethiopia government, yet the city is still small, lacks any modern telecommunications, towers etc and the economy sucks.
