SomaliPhilosopher Posted May 13, 2013 What is done with the lime rocks in the road?
Saalax Posted May 13, 2013 That is the rocks used to reconstruct the road before putting asphalt over them to pave the road.
SomaliPhilosopher Posted May 13, 2013 So the natural rocks that are in the ground are removed and are later used to create the roads? Is that correct?
Saalax Posted May 13, 2013 It depends, some are reshaped and used for that purpose while new ones are imported from other areas. Not necessary the same location.
SomaliPhilosopher Posted May 13, 2013 Interesting. What is the general rights over such rocks? As a local can you simply remove the rocks and claim it as your own?
Saalax Posted May 13, 2013 You can't claim the contents of public land in the middle of the city which you don't own. It is off limits, However aside from your own plot of land/house there is a different rule in the countryside, if your particular group resides in a certain area and there is no individual/family to contest it, it is yours. Chimera Posted May 13, 2013 Come on people, why walk carelessly upon a recently resurfaced road as if a wedding party is being held right then and there? In a European climate everything is sealed off for a day, in the hot Somali climate you at least need two days for the surface to set in and harden. I understand that these roads are vital economic arteries, but come on, do it right and it will last longer.

Do these rocks have any financial value to them at this point?
Saalax Posted May 13, 2013 Yes they do along with the precious rocks such as Emeralds, Berylliums etc which are in abundance in Somaliland.
