Illyria Posted May 4, 2013 Press Release For Immediate Release ,Violation of Federal Constitution by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Jubaland community is increasingly concerned with the attitude of the federal government of Somalia with respect to Jubaland communities and gross violation of Somalia Federal constitution. Since the election of President Hassan, last year, the only active file in the Office of the President, Prime Minister and the cabinet was Jubaland State formation and its communities. The antagonistic attitude developed by the federal government towards Jubaland people is pushing the community to unchartered territories. Somali people have adopted a new constitution based on the federal system of governance and expect the president of Somalia to respect. The allocation of powers of the federal constitution is very clear where most powers lie with the federal member states. However, President Hassan is continuously violating constitution, particularly, section Five Articles 49, 50, 52, 54 and section 15, article 142 of Somalia federal constitution. In reference to the president’s statement yesterday at the Somalia Federal Parliament in respect to Jubaland State, it is a clear indication that President Hassan is against embracing federal system of governance adopted by constituency assembly last year and the people’s choice with respect to the formation of Jubaland State of Somalia as enshrined in the Federal constitution. As a result, We call upon the Somalia Federal Parliament to investigate President Hassan’s gross violation of the federal constitution and continued unilateral actions without participation & proper consultation with federal member States. We call upon peace loving international community to intervene before it’s too late to arrest the situation. END
