Ace of Spadez Posted April 28, 2013 Oodweyne, some time back I watched the concession speech of Abdirahman Ali (AUN) & Cumar Carte when they lost to Egal(AUN). It was one for the ages and cemented the peaceful transfer of power between a sitting president and his challenger. You are spot on and have eloquently encapsulated the legacy of President. History will be kind on him and his administration.
Carafaat Posted April 29, 2013 Allah ha u naxariisto Madaxweyne Abdirahman Ali Tuur, the founder and first President of Somaliland.
Tallaabo Posted April 29, 2013 Alle ha u naxariisto president Cabdi Raxmaan Cali Tuur. Another interesting fact about the people of Somaliland is their amazing resolve to safeguard their hard-won independence no matter what. When president Tuur who was very influential and respected by the general public, the SNM, and his large clan changed his mind on Somaliland's independence and went to Xamar, suddenly every man, woman, soldier, and child in Somaliland regardless of their clan gave him the middle finger and lined behind AUN president Cigaal. President Tuur's legacy should be a good lesson to the Koonfurians and teach them that it is not the politicians, the professors, or the warlords who control Somaliland and have the last say, but instead it is the ordinary man and woman on the streets. Win the people's trust and goodwill and you win Somaliland, simple as that.

Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 30, 2013 Tuur was a geesi the war between the ahlu baits in africa was also caused by resources the clan in berbera claiming the port, the sultans of sl claiming the airport. It was not about the case of independence we all agreed on independence, but cigaals administration didnt start fairly. Althought it was fixed later tuur will be remembered for defeating the siad bare govt under his reign that happened he had the hardest reign a country destroyed no roads no schools ministeries broken people. He had to fix that there was division among snm calancas vs the rest but he kept snm united for as long as he could. He held the borama conference. So i have to say tuur did well in his time of leadership may allah bless his soul and may allah bles cigaals soul to

Our unfortunate 1996 civil war was not about independence of Somaliland, rather it was about resource sharing among the rival clans and Somaliland's political structure. Cigaal as usual behaved like a strongman and started the conflict thinking he could force people to submit to his government unconditionally. But eventually the Cigaal government and the opposing tribe learned their lessons the hard way and made their way to the negotiating table. I think the civil war was a useful lesson for Somaliland and because of it we are more united and stronger today.

The opposing tribe has not forgotten this aggression and I don't think these kinds of comments help nurture the wounds these people have suffered in their right ironic right for self determination. Shame on you!
