Carafaat Posted April 15, 2013 Allah ha u naxariisto Madaxweynihii hore ee Somaliland iyo Raisal Wasaarihii shacabka doorteen ee ugu dambeeyay Somalia.
galbeedi Posted April 16, 2013 Allah ha u naxariisto. he was a real leader, within few years he established a system of government with progressive constitution and in his second term he organized political parties. he said they should not be more than three. when he was in charge , biixi, in aw cali, Siilaanyo and many other trouble makers who are making the noise today were all hiding. he was correct in his second term tribal issues were minimal unlike today. what a great statesman Cigaal , alla hakuu naxariisto. Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 16, 2013 There were rumors of cigaal wanted to take the seat of the Somali republic in 1994, he suggested this idea re modeling Somalia to his shape and moving the capital to hargeisa. When he came up with that idea 6 of his ministers resigned , than he dropped the whole idea and later that year the hargeisa civil war began. in 2000 he wanted to get hold of the conference , but the IC supported Djibouti in this and ismael omar geele got the project. NGONGE Posted April 16, 2013 An interesting video. Many of the ideas he hoped for SL's progress have come true today.
xiinfaniin Posted April 16, 2013 I agree with Cigaale's political and oratory skills. But what he hoped for Somaliland has not come to fruition. As apparent in the interview he was hoping a reincarnation of British Somaliland in social and political harmony and unity to either achieve recognition or status equal to that of the south Somalia. Neither is the case today ---don't call it a crystal ball, it is the reality on the ground.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 16, 2013 ^^ Somaliland is more united today controls more territory than during cigaals era and its more developed economically military. Although there are many challenges facing Somaliland but i even think cigaal could be very proud how far Somaliland is today.
xiinfaniin Posted April 16, 2013 ^^That is way 'duushay' stuff---such feel good speech has no resonance in certain circles waryee
NGONGE Posted April 16, 2013 Err..Xiin, when he said the icteraaf will not be given as a gift to SL and that it should build itself to force such an icteraaf, he was not wrong. His ambtion for a Somaliland that is organised, democratic and with functioning institutions DID come true. He also admitted (at the time) that there were elements that were opposed to Somaliland and that such issues were being worked on (Laas Caanood, anyone?). Aaliyyah Posted April 16, 2013 Egal stated that his administration will only be based on a clan in the transition period of two years. On the contrary, it is been 20 years and it is the same clan-based administration hora lo yidhi qabiil qaran ma noqdo. One thing he is right about though is his statement “aqoonsi hadiyad la iskuma siiyo”. Khaatumo State will struggle for its rightful territories. Makhir State and Awdal State will also follow suit. Little did he know, when he denied such administrations will ever come to existence.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted April 16, 2013 There is still no such thing as a awdal state or maakhir state it doesn't exist , khatumo exist but its ineffective in the border area and their predecessors ssc rebels joined SL . So cigaal stands correct SL controls much more territory now than when cigaal aun was leading the goverment political base is much wider and all more inclusive. From 1991 to 1993 SNM interim government From 1993 to 2002 Civilian government after the borama conference From 2003 to 2010 Democratically elected goverment From 2010 to present Democratically elected government
