If I hazard a guess his beef is with the capital of the state slated for Middle Jubba (Bu'aale), instead of Gedo (Baardheere). I heard the delegates preferred Bu'aale over Baardheere purely on the basis of location and geography.

Giving the popular flights and pictures we are bombarded with here , why do i have a feeling the intensity with which this state is formed is going to be REAL and that there is nothing the Federal government in Mogadishu can do about it? its about time the FG should convey good faith and concesions methink..Sad to say, but most indications suggest that this state will be formed without the blessing of the government in Mogadishu, so don't you think it is time to come up with another strategy that could work as a peaceful solution?

That is what would have been expected from mature, intelligent leaders, but unfortunately this is not so with the current federal leadership in Mogadishu. Eventually tho' they will come around, and then it is up to the Juba leaders to take the lead in bringing the federal institutions to the side.

STOIC, uou are right and its good logic you suggest because if both sides continue on the same track the situation will only get worse and complicate Somali problem. Its ultimately the government's fault and failure for not being able to respect the demand of the people or win the hearts and minds of huge section of Somalia with all elders, politicians and popular support.

STOIC, a small group of dissidents are merely digging themselves into deeper trenches. That isnt enough to force the federal goverment on its knees. It takes more then that.

I must say folks down there played excellent political game. My man Saacid and his boss Hassan had very weak cards in their hands. Peaceful gathering by locals to advance governance in their area in accordance with the constitution is not something they could credibly derail without resorting to violence or unconstitutional power grab.
